Western Cascade Baseball Alliance:

The WCBU aims to create one of the most immersive fictional baseball worlds utilizing the OOTP 14 simulation engine. Success in the WCBU will require solid financial management skills, a keen sense for talent evaluation, exceptional drafting, shrewd trading abilities, and outstanding roster management. Immersion and high competitive challenge will be driven by the following key traits of our league:

1) Active GM’s with high export rates. A lack of activity by a GM will prompt the search for a new GM very quickly in order to keep a team from deteriorating due to lack of attention.

2) Actual batting/pitching ratings will be turned off and potential ratings will be on a 1-5 scale in order to increase the reliance on stats and performance metrics. This will also increase the importance of minor league statistics as well as analysis of LHP/RHP batting split stats. Is that young prospect ready for the big leagues; does that aging superstar have another year of productive at bats in him? These are some of the questions that you will ponder over the course of a season.

3) While we won’t use scouts per se, scouting will be enabled in order to blur the written scouting reports increasing the reliance on statistical output.

4) We will encourage active forum participation and article writing about your team or league in general in order to create a fully immersive fictional world.

5) We will start off as a 12 team universe in order to build out a strong core of active GM’s before considering expansion as the seasons progress.

GENERAL

The WCBU will be setup in a 2 league format, with one division per league and six teams per division. The regular season will consist of 144 games. The top two teams in each league will play in the League Championship Series (7 game series) and the winners will compete for the Pacific Cup in a 9 game series.

Sims consist of 14 days (except during off-season) and are run on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays with exports due by 8:00 PM CST. A Saturday sim will be added during the off-season, same export deadline.

I'd like to note that the league is being run by two experienced commissioners, including myself. I have ran two fairly successful online leagues in the past, and this will be my third attempt (hopefully with long lasting results).

Greenrebellion will also be helping me with this project, and is currently the commissioner of another league as well.

The level of interested I've received so far has been fantastic! Lots of guys really seem genuinely enthusiastic about the unique structure we're providing!

By the way, all players in the league are fictional, and we sim three days per week.

NOTE: Teams will be handed out, and unfortunately, you will not be able to select the city and mascot. However, if you stick with the league, we will allow active members to move the organization and rename the club after a few seasons.

The Mesa Rattlesnakes are now available.

- I'm looking for someone that is interested in writing regular updates for the team. Please don't take Mesa unless you plan on writing about them at least once per week. The updates aren't required to be lengthy, I'm just looking for consistent reactions to sims in the forums.

Team Details: Currently in the inaugural season, Mesa is in a two-way tie for the second wild card position with a record of 29-21. The organization is centered around powerful pitching, which leads the entire WCBU in ERA thus far.
