Rocky Colavito got screwed out of a silver slugger award, and Garry Maddox narrowly lost a gold glove to Richie Ashburn. It really was a lost season.

Xenomorphs Lose in 6
The Xenos got blown out at home in G6, 12-4. SE Johan Santana was on the mound for us. While he didn't have the greatest regular season, he was 3-0 in 4 starts in the post-season. Well, he didn't have it tonight as he gave up 8 ER in 4 innings.
Congrats to the Fond Du Lac Fighters, who defeated one of the whales to make it to the finals. Lefty Gomez received our only end of season award for Pitcher of the Year. He only went 14-8 but he did rock a 2.61 ERA to lead the conference.

Colonels lose in 6. I got a nice consolation prize of MVP (DiMaggio) and PotY (Young) to cap off a great season for points (47,128).

P432 Wrap-up: You Gotta Be Pulling My (Bat) Chain
For a league with such an uncompetitive regular season, the P432 playoffs were nuts. Every Division Series went 5 games, with the heavily favored Huntley Red Raiders going down to the team it finished 40 games ahead of in the regular season, the Bat Cave Bat Chain Pullers. In the other AC Division Series, the 81-81 Cleveland Crunch upset the 86-77 (tiebreakers) Orange City Patriots. Over in the NC, the 87-75 Chicago Hate Hoax upset the 99-63 Lethbridge Bulls. The only favored team to escape the Division Series carnage was the 127-win Kogarah Kings, who defeated the Yonker Stompers...
...only to shockingly blow a 3-1 lead in the NC Sub-League Series and lose to the Chicago Hate Hoax in 7! Compared to every other series, the AC Sub-League Series was a relative blowout, as it was the first series not to go the distance, with the Bat Chain Pullers defeating the Crunch in a mere 6 games. And then, most shockingly of all, after so many closely contested series, the Bat Chain Pullers blew the Hate Hoax out, sweeping Chicago to earn their first Perfect League medallion! The Bat Chain Pullers finished 14th in the AC in runs scored (691) but second in runs allowed (512); fittingly, the team won 4 Great Glove awards (1B Freddie Freeman; 3B Adrian Beltre; LF Darin Erstad; RF Mookie Betts). Despite its painfully frustrating playoff flameout, in recognition of its record-setting regular season, Huntley dominated the postseason awards, winning all the major awards. Here is how Huntley finished in all categories besides Great Gloves (none); winners and league-leading stats in bold: AC Platinum Stick Award Winners 1B Norm Cash 2B Arky Vaughan 3B George Brett SS Luke Appling LF Mickey Mantle RF Christian Yelich DH Barry Bonds (C Yogi Berra and CF Ken Griffey Jr had "merely" good years.) AC Reliever of the Year (1st place votes; total votes) (stats) 1. Eric Gagne (10; 81) (41 saves; 2.25 ERA, 192 ERA+; 2.2 WAR) 2. Dennis Eckersley (9; 62) (11 holds; 3 saves; 1.47 ERA; 294 ERA+; 1.9 WAR) 4. Walter Johnson (6; 56) (63 games; 104.2 innings; 7 saves; 193 ERA+; 2.7 WAR) 5. Lee Smith (0; 8) (27 holds; 2 saves; 1.70 ERA; 254 ERA+; 2.8 WAR) AC Pitcher of the Year (1st place votes; total votes) (stats) 1. Curt Schilling (0; 2) (23-2; 2.66 ERA; 3.06 FIP; 193 K; 162 ERA+; 6.4 WAR) AC Most Valuable Player Award (1st place votes; total votes) (stats) 1. Arky Vaughan (13; 273) (.346/.425/.484; 11 HR; 79 RBIs; 149 OPS+; 6.7 WAR) 2. Christian Yelich (5; 235) (.282/.362/.532; 31 HR; 115 RBIs; 142 OPS+; 5.4 WAR) 3. Barry Bonds (6; 201) (.277/.398/.486; 31 HR; 122 RBIs; 142 OPS+; 4.5 WAR) 4. Norm Cash (0; 170) (.306/.398/.522; 26 HR; 102 RBIs; .919 OPS; 150 OPS+; 4.6 WAR) 5. Ed Walsh (0; 51) 12. Rube Waddell (0; 32) 17. Curt Schilling (0; 10) 18. Ken Griffey Jr (0; 9) (.278/.353/.472; 23 HR; 92 RBIs; 125 OPS+; 4.3 WAR) 24. Here's hoping for a little more playoff fortune and glory next week!

Crayons finished 1 GB of the wildcard, and Cowboys lost the wildcard game. So I checked in here and there on the Vikings today.
Vikings made it to their 4th Perfect Series, and lost for the 3rd time (4-2). The difference was probably his Tier 1 pitchers (Perfect Cy & Pedro) against my Tier 2/3 pitchers (Vida, Glavine, Kershaw). He had mostly Perfect batters too, but I'm never scared of any given batter. Those ace pitchers make all the difference though. Last edited by Argonaut; 11-04-2019 at 12:40 AM. |

(piercingly stares at his dysfunctional team) That could have been ours.
(stares some more piercingly) That could have been… ours. (stands up and goes, but takes bowl with sweets with him, to the desperate bickering protests of the players, some of whom try to cling on to his pants)

A disappointing season for Paragon City Heroes, going just 88-74 but making the playoffs via the WC in which thy beat their division rivals and then got knocked out by Silicon Valley Outlaws. the Vlad News Bears took the championship home with a sweep. Rocky Colavito had a 7.0 WAR season which won him the MVP, he has been a tremendous purchase for me, over 6 perfect season he has a 162 game average of 6.0 WAR. Bob Friend won reliever of the year in the stopper role, leading relievers in innings pitched (145) wins (12)and 2nd in WHIP (0.89) he's also proven to be a very good purchase, I'm hoping the newly acquired Hooks Dauss fits nicely into the rotation
Bad News Bears went 83-79 but got bounced in the WC game, (84) Ernie Banks won the MVP hitting 35 HR with 131 RBI and 51 2b, leading the league in total bases, not bad for a 3k offseason pickup earning back 2.4k in PP this season. Pedro Martinez earned reliever of the year in the stopper role (seems to be a theme) Neuman Furshlugginers had the leagues best record at 94-69, and played like in the playoffs going 7-1 in the forst two round, but then they collapsed losing to Chicago Titans in a sweep. Will Clark (1b) Luis Aparicio (SS) Jim Gilliam (2B) Roy Halladay (P) all won Great Gloves, with Gregg Jefferies picking up a Great Bat at 3B. Our last visit to Perfect was thankfully short as we got crushed, hopefully we can put together a better showing and to help with that we have brough in 89 Maddus, 92 Matt Morris, 96 Kirby Puckett, and 88 Tony Oliva

As expected, the LCS between the Beltways and the Barks Flyers went down to seven games. And inspired by the Washington Nationals, the Beltways took Game 7 on the road by a 10 to 8 score.
In the World Series, we took home field advantage in Game 2 against the Soo Greyhounds, and after taking the series lead in Game 3, that was as good as it got, as we lost the next three games. However, George Sisler was named MVP, having gone 9-for-25 with four home runs. In Bibra Lake, the Quendas suffered an even greater heartbreak, losing in the World Series 4 games to 3. With home field advantage, the home team won each game EXCEPT for Game 7. The Everett Aquasox might have lost in the LCS, but they were promoted to Diamond, which is exciting news for them. Even more good news for the Froggies - Ron Santo was named G337 MVP. Santo went .298/.385/.500 with 23 HR and 82 ribbies in 144 games. But it's a different story in S344, where the Thetford Mines Mineurs are Silver League champions. A 4-3 LCS Series victory over the North Battleford Beavers was the most that the Mineurs were tested, as the World Series was a relatively easy 4-1 romp over the Colorado Avalanche. That gave the province of Quebec some manner of revenge over the team that broke their collective heart some 25 years ago. Finally, the Forest City Tribe were also promoted. The No.1 seed in the NC, they swept the Tahoe Giants 3-0 to win promotion before being swept by the Yuba City Cottonmouths in the LCS. So all-in-all, a pretty successful playoff season for my teams.
