Owner goals
One of the goals my team's owner has set is to upgrade at shortstop.
What does the AI consider to be an upgrade? Does it compare stars? Numeric ratings? Current ratings or potential ratings? Suppose the incumbent shortstop has two current stars and two potential stars. Would the AI consider an 18-year-old SS prospect with one current star and four potential stars to be an upgrade? |

Usually it considers your positional ranking compared to other teams - you can see that in the Reports drop-down. So in general getting someone better (stars and/or ratings) that would increase your ranking will do it.

If you want to get full credit, you need someone in the top 5 at the position. You will get partial credit for improving your ranking even a little.
