Historical Replay Issue

Decided I wanted to try and recreate the Red's 1990 wire to wire season with myself as manager so I set up lg with use real lineups and transactions.

When playing the first game I went in to make a substitution mid game and noticed I had around 37 players on the team. I checked lg setup and roster limits were set to NONE.

Is this by design since I said real lineups so the game put anyone who had an at bat on the active roster so AI did not have to do promos/demotions???

Created lg again and saw that the game does say that checking real lineups disables roster limits

The transaction database does not include DL stints or Minor League promotions/demotions. Therefore, the rosters need to be unlimited to ensure the right players are available when using as-played lineups.

Thanks, I figured that was the reason, so for what I wanted I went with just real transactions only, no real lineups, now if real transactions included injuries or at least let random injuries happen it would be perfect for what I want, oh well It is what it is

If you use real transactions and lineups, you can limit your roster to 25 players. However, if the AI places someone on the reserve roster, that player will not be "called up" when he is to appear in the as-played lineup. Someone else will be substituted in his place. This is a relatively minor problem. The bigger problem is with pitching. The AI will assign some pitchers to the reserve roster. These pitchers will sit there the entire season, making no appearances. (Remember: injuries are disabled when using as-played lineups.) As a result, the pitchers on the active roster will appear in too many games over the course of a season. I asked Markus a couple of years ago if he could make the AI use the reserve roster for call ups and send downs during the season. He declined on the grounds that it would be quite a bit of work to code.
