Manager Effectiveness
Just curious as to what other players have found in relation to their field manager's effectiveness?
I realize that the effect would be minimal for those who play out each game. I sim the games but manage everything else day to day (including the lineup). My current team is an expansion franchise (baseball is coming back to Montreal one way or the other). My original skipper was of average quality as far as ratings go. I was happy to let him stay for the four years he was given on his contract (by the AI). The team was terrible (.300's) for the first three years as I built up the organization's assets. In the fourth season the team spiked to a competitive level (75 wins) with an infusion of young talent and free agents. The pitching coach was also upgraded. At the end of the season I let my manager go and promoted a guy with tremendous ratings from my AAA team. I continued to bolster the roster. The team was good out of the gate but has settled down to a .400 winning percentage. Some possibilities I have considered: - did letting go of my manager after a big improvement effect the team adversely (if this is in OOTP programming then bravo!)? - are manager's ratings effected the same as player ratings ie: scouting? Perhaps my new guy isn't all he is cracked up to be - just a fluke and one of those aggravating yet captivating look what the cat barfed up seasons? Thoughts?
