SALEM WITCHES BASEBALL CLUB - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Witches are pleased to announce the signing of Jay "Diamond" Bell to a long term contract. It is hoped that the new shortstop will combine with second baseman Bill Mazeroski to make hitting ground balls at Puritan Park a one-way ticket to the dugout express.

Salem WItches just took their brooms to Palolo, sweeping them 3 games to 0. Hopefully, Palolo can get their high-powered offense back on track. They have multiple Our League games on their schedule this month.

Taking a look at the schedules, and this is the Bronze .257 "Our League" slate for the season...
Asheboro Road Dogs: 13 Home, 14 Away Cooper Gutter Cats: 16 Home, 19 Away Daytona Beach Pickleballers: 21 Home, 21 Away New York Patriots: 4 Home, 4 Away Ozark Bobcats: 21 Home, 21 Away Philadelphia Patriots: 17 Home, 16 Away Everyone except the New York Patriots got a very healthy "Our League" schedule. For the second straight year, the Patriots will play the least amount of "Our League" matchups among the eligible teams. Last edited by Magus978; 05-06-2019 at 09:43 PM. |

Well, then we turned 4 double plays and still got Atom-Smashed...

might have gotten overlooked/lost in the chaos of the thread **housekeeping note** be sure to update your friend's list to include: team: Frankenthal Retros user: germaniac-pre90 this should put us at 32 overall teams (so 31 not including yourself); so it'll be time to split out a bit more by range... so use your best judgement as who to leave out (i.e. if you're in iron/bronze/silver; it might make sense to leave out the diamond level as it will be awhile before you might have a chance to meet up with them in the same league) |

No problem
But it might be a smart idea to keep PT league discussions and "registration" in separate threads

Boomerangs Adjust Infield for New Season
Apparently impressed with the Boomerangs advancing to the 2024 Finals, Jim Fregosi, in his finest 1964 form, has signed up with the Bent Sticks. This caused some initial confusion with the other infielders, as Hanley Ramirez had done an admirable job, but he shifted to 2nd base, where he had some experience and Edgardo Alfonzo accepted the job of learning to play first base. Everyone seemed happy except Chris Davis, who was unable to beat out Vada Pinson for the DH position and was relegated to the bench. Alfonzo has done well through the first dozen games, putting up an .808 OPS while only committing one error at his new position. (My first attempt to train a player at a new position has gone pretty well, with Alfonzo up to a 16 rating at First already. Not sure how to see the potentials for him at the position.)

My apologies. I put you on my Friends List, but I obviously forgot to acknowledge it on the thread so others would see it. I even copied my list to my desktop, but in the crunch to get the standings out, I overlooked it. At the very least, I should have alerted Bottom Of The Sixth, who keeps the master list. Again, I'm sorry, but I'm sure my teams will make it up to you when you're on board. They're fairly easy marks. By the way, it's pretty easy to manage the list until we are all clustered around a single level. I just keep mine at 30, leaving a team or two a couple of levels above on my desktop list until I get there. In fact, I had to drop a team to get Frankenthal on mine. I would suggest that others also keep those they remove on file for future inclusion. Just wish I'd have mentioned it to others. |

Our League Schedule for S278 - 2025
There are 389 Our League games on tap in S278 in 2025, the most in any season. That said, it's time for my seasonal gripe about OOTP's placement of Friends List teams. Hmm, 12 teams, 6 divisions, how should that go? Like this, I guess:
Annandale Atom Smashers, AC Central - 34 Home (H); 38 Away (A) Asylum Keepers, NC West - 32 H; 32 A Bluffton Boomerangs, AC Central - 38 H; 32 A Harlem Hatchets, AC East - 20 H; 21 A Palolo Puppies, NC Central - 28 H; 24 A Port Ruppert Mundys, AC West - 36 H; 40 A Salem Witches, AC East - 38 H; 37 A Sanguine Classics, AC West - 38 H; 38 A Shasta Black Bears, NC West - 32 H; 31 A Terra Incognita Rustlers, AC West - 38 H, 40 A Waffletown Syrups, NC Central - 23 H; 26 A Wheatland Jets, NC West - 32 H; 28 A With no representative in the NC East, there won't be 12 Our League teams in the playoffs, but let's show 'em and get 11. Good luck to all Our League teams. Guess I can't put off looking at my teams any longer. |

on the plus side, a 7 team / 5 team split between the AC and NC is a bit nicer than previous years where we'd only have 1 or 2 teams in one league, and a heavy load in the other.... and Harlem with 41 total games being the fewest of the bunch sure beats those times when one team ended up with under 10 total games against a fellow league member... good luck all (except when you're playing Waffletown of course ) |

Our League Schedule for I220 - 2025
Fancher Creek gets kicked to the side in their sophomore season, with only 7 games, with 5 on the road. The rest of I220 has a decent run. I guess OOTP's schedule algorithm always assumes that in a group of six friends, one always has to be cast out.
Arkham Horrors, AC Central - 19 Home (H); 21 Away (A) Fancher Creek Pirates, NC East - 2 H; 5 A Gotham Knights, AC West - 14 H; 12 A Motown Stars, AC East - 23 H; 18 A Mudville Muffins, AC East - 21 H; 22 A Stephensville Bears, AC Central - 18 H; 19 A Oh well, with my clerical duties complete, I guess it's time to check out my teams' "progress." |

After an 0-4 start, Palolo has rebounded and is now 7-5 in Our League play. Palolo's offense continues to produce, while their defense has more holes in it than a parakeet.

Unless I'm wrong, the Cowboys only have 6 games against the Fighting Chickens and 3 games against the Mokes in Gold. I don't know how the other schedules look, but given that we're all in different divisions it looks pretty tough to get a good Our League campaign this year in Gold .334.

Diamond 350 --- A league of extremes
I would have to say that this league has the greatest spread of talent of any that I have yet seen. We have a mega-whale, a few ordinary whales, all the way down to an all-iron team (named, appropriately enough, Unsung Iron Heroes).
The Mega-whale is the Bronx bombers. They have the peak card of all the most famous baseball players ever. Starting at catcher is peak Johnny Bench. Going around the infield, we have peak Lou Gehrig at 1B, Peak Jackie Robinson at 2B, Peak Honus Wagner at SS, Peak George Brett at 3B. In the outfield it is peak Joe Dimaggio, peak Mickey Mantle, and, of course, peak Babe Ruth. The starting rotation include peak Greg Maddux, peak Roger Clemens, peak Randy Johnson, and peak Waite Hoyt. Even their reserve roster is stocked with about 30 diamond players. After 20 games, their record is 18-2 and they have outscored their opposition by an average of five runs per game. They are first in the league in runs scored, runs allowed, and just about everything else, too. The whales are doing well, but not as well as the mega-whale. At the other end of the spectrum, as noted with a record of 1-20, is the Unsung Iron Heroes. They have given up 7.5 runs more per game than they have gotten. They are the first team I have EVER seen on the weekly power rankings to get a negative value! Looking at the dispersion of talent, I don't expect any Our League teams are in danger of either being promoted or relegated this season.

I added you to my friends list back when you joined. I have no idea why your team was not included with the other 6 Iron teams. Are you sure you have your settings set so your "League Placement Setting" is set to "Use Friends List? |
