Not many crappier feelings than......

Spending $20 for 25k perfect points, opening up 25 standard packs, and the best card you get is a 72 Andrew Chafin. Will take that as a sign and say stop blowing all my damn money!

I did the exact same thing in 19 with 25 packs.....not a good feeling to come away almost empty handed.

You guys should post in the thread where a fellow complains about not getting any good cards in his packs. Maybe he'll feel better knowing he's not alone.

There should be some sort of bad luck protection.

I would like a small decrease to the odds of drawing a card you already own. I have played games with similar mechanics, so there is a precedent for this approach, and I think it would be appropriate for the spirit and intent of this game.

As much as I hate seeing Chris Davis' ugly mug pop up every other pack, it does leave me feeling nostalgic for my youth. I think this is all part of the experience of opening packs of cards. It's that much sweeter when a true...ahem "gem" surfaces when you least expect it.

Hearthstone has a pity timer, and they make it so you can't pull a legendary once you own it.

The problem with lowering the odds you get a card you own is that most of the cards are by necessity going to be crappy ones. If you open 1000 packs you will probably own all the iron cards there are. So if they lowered the odds you got a card you owned then that would increase the odds you get a good card, which is screws up the card distribution odds.

If you get a duplicate of a good card you own (which will happen to many people) you should just sell it and use the funds to either buy a different good card or more packs. Granted, buying a good card doesn't give the adrenaline rush that opening it from a pack gives you, but that's a small price to pay.

I'd be more open to decreasing the odds of getting duplicate players in the same pack. But not on board with no duplicates, period.

I wish they would lower the odds of getting LIVE cards. I have no interest in those at all.

Yeah that might be cool to make another type of pack. Put a price around 10000PP for Retro packs. Same type of odds as Gold pack but no Live cards in there. I've seen a lot of hardware heroes and unsung heroes and historical all-stars in bronze that could take up the majority and guarantee a silver and gold retro.

Decreasing the odds of dupes doesn't have to work across tiers. I agree that the game would indeed be imbalanced if owning every iron card increased my chances of acquiring better cards. All I am hoping for is for the game to help me fill out my missing irons just a smidgen faster by decreasing (not eliminating - that'd be too extreme as well) the chance of getting a 10th JaCoby Jones before I pull my 1st Isiah Kiner-Falefa.

Think of it this way... if you already have all the iron cards, then it would be like every ballpark in the league being set to max offense. The odds of pulling a dupe iron would be back to even, just as the same ballparks make all offenses even as well.

Given the randomness in the pack contents I expect it works just as it did with buying regular baseball card packs. I remember there was always this one guy I could never get (probably someone on the Senators), no matter how many packs I bought. And this was before any sort of baseball card resale market existed. You'd buy 5 or 10 packs and not get him... try as you might, you could never get that card... but over the course of the summer you'd end up with 10 copies of some scrub shortstop for Detroit who you never heard of and cared nothing about.

They're just recreating the baseball card pack experience, except it's digital!
