Question about injury rate

I was wonder how injuries are calculated in the game. It seems pretty high and often. I played hockey for over 35 years. I played in the North American Junior Hockey League for the Detroit Junior Red Wings 88/89 and then some Senior Open and I do not remember people being injured as often as the game is making it happen.

Also, why are teams practicing on game days where players get injured there too?

The injury rates are fairly similar to real NHL injury levels; if anything, they might be a bit on the low side (if you look at the number of players who play the whole schedule in a given season, it's usually a little more than twice what the actual real-life number is.) But there's an odd common perception with sports management games - realistic injury frequencies tend to be seen as excessive by people playing the game. Markus has seen it in OOTP, and I've had other developers mention it to me as well. I'm not sure if it's a byproduct of the real teams being secretive about injury data or what, but people definitely seem to underestimate how many guys are hurt over the course of a season.

But good point on the game-day practices, I'll see if we can tone down the injury rate of those - there should still be a smaller possibility, since a guy can get hurt during a game-day skate or the warmup, but it shouldn't be as high. There's also the complication that practice injuries and off-ice ones are both part of a general "non-game injury" category that's only checked once per day - I'll need to reduce the practice stuff on game days (and some other obvious places, like Christmas or the all-star break) without reducing off-ice ones.

Please do not reduce the amount of injuries! Perfect solution would be to re-introduce the injury slider, of course ;-)
