My Fictional League

Started off with a 30 team 6 division fantasy draft and after two years I guess you can label these guys as a dynasty....*spoiler alert because I want to put this league on here for everyone to enjoy*.

Season 1 14th pick for the Nashville Predators and we took red hot centerman Willie Satterlee. Teamed up with 3rd pick Daniel Boucher, these two dominated the first line and scoring with Satterlee notching 45G 69A and a +61 while Boucher notched 48G (league high) 55A and a +68 (league high) and 4th pick Cole McGranaghan recorded 10 shutouts 42 wins and a 1.70 GAA (all league highs) the struggled through the playoffs needed 7 games on several occasions but the team preserved. The team notched 127 points easily winning the presidents trophy as well.

Season 2 started off with some bumps as the GM opted NOT to start any of his rookie draft players McGranaghan sputtered a little but his 40 wins and 8 shutouts were good enough to notch his second straight goalie of the year (and his playoff performance is noted elsewhere) Satterlee, Boucher and the rest of the first line flirted with injuries and their point production suffered but got much needed secondary support scoring notably from Akhat Zainullin 15g 20a up from 6/13 the previous year Andrew Reynolds 20/20 up from 15/15 and Seymon Kurazhov 8/7 + in 2016 to a 17/16 +16 last year. The team won the presidents trophy in the last game of the year when NY Guardians lost to Houston giving the title to Nashville by two points.

Season 3 outlook teams are getting better overall and the Predators made some serious off season moves especially in defense getting free agents Getting David Lawry from KC, Jan Prochazka from Milwaukee and Jack Ramsey from Minnesota 16/42 last year as a RW. They also called up C Tony Parks from the juniors this year and looking to see how his 66/69 +59 will translate to the MHL. But the bigger news was in the contract extensions. Satterlee 64,880,000 contract will be good until 2026 (and as player request he was granted a no move clause as well). Daniel Boucher 6 years 35,400,000 Nicklas Lindstrom 3 years 13,700,000. Mcgranaghan actually took a pay cut to stay dropping from his 5,540,000 contract down to a 4,630,000 contract per year fro two years. Peter Nilsson was also rewarded with an extension of about 23 million for 5 years.

well lets move on to season three...Early on the Predators were enjoying a 17 point lead in the division until Cole got injured and put on IR and the two hot prospects in the MML were busts so a trade was made to get Pittsburgh's starting goalie (and a second round pick) with a few more wins but even he faltered losing the last two regular season games but the Predators had enough points in the bank to win the division title but not the president's trophy. After losing game 1 of the first round tactics were adjusted and the team found their groove again taking Las Vegas in 6 (after Las Vegas won game 4 in 3OT 1-0 and new comer Eckerd needing only 17 saves for a 3-0 shutout in game 5 before taking game 6 5-1) and had no problems with Dallas in round two getting a 4-0 sweep 3rd round California Wave despite recording a 2-0 shutout in game four had their dreams ended in 5 as Nashville exploded with vengeance with a 5-2 victory and a 4-1 series clinch.

North Carolina Nighthawks came in as #6 in the east but dismantled Philadelphia (#3) in 5, #1 overall Hartford in six and #2 Atlanta in 6 as well.

Game one North Carolina came out smoking and opted for Eckerd in goal. Jan Jerebek scored the first goal 5 minutes into the game off a turnover from Ron Keys. Henrik Lennartson scored for the Nighthawks at the 12:29 mark. Willie Satterlee got ticked after the second goal and found a willing combatant Radim Petras two minutes after the goal. Keys got the Preds on the board 1:11 in the 3rd but Jaroslav Bis ended the comeback rally at the 12 mark to clinch it for the Nighthawks.

Game two and two things were changed first the preds opted for an all out offensive blitz and McGrannahan was back in goal. Adrian Vorisek put the preds up 1-0 at the 18:58 mark. that featured TWO first period fights Jack Ramsey and Vladislav Sma for round one and James Cooper and Emil Soderqvist in round two. Tempers were quieted down in the second with no scoring and only three minor penalties. Daniel Boucher got called for hooking which Adam Andersson took advantage of it and scored on the power play to tie the game. Martin Slota responded with his first goal in the playoffs to put the preds up 2-1 and Petter Nilsson responded with a goal of his own two minutes later to put the preds up for good 3-1 and tie the series at 1.

Game three and the stand out stat so far was the preds going 0-13 on the power play in two games so far. That ended with Akhat Zainullin blasting one by goalie Bauchman to take an early 1-0 lead. North Carolina came back at 19:36 when Aleksandr Ploushin scored to tie it. Nashville was credited with only three shots on goal and North Carolina had 9 but the score was tied at 1 after two periods. One minuted into the third and Ramsey was called for roughing and after telling the official what he thought of the call he was handed a 10 minute misconduct on top of that. Vorisek responded at the 7:46 mark with a goal to put the preds up 2-1. The play was back and forth both goalies making impressive saves but the game was decided when Jim Wooley got a boarding penalty at the 15:31 mark which was followed up by Ramsey's power play goal at 17:29. Both goalies faced 23 shots in the game but Nashville was now up 2-1.

Game four was a penalty marred first period with 8 being called and Gustafsson getting tagged with a 10 minute misconduct on top of his two minute hooking call. Out of all of this only was goal was scored and it was a 5-5 goal with Nashville David Lawry getting his first of the playoffs at the 5:47 mark. Second period saw two more goals and way fewer penalties with Emil collecting his second of the playoffs to tie the game at 1 for North Carolina but it was at the 19:16 mark when Satterlee scored for the predators to break the tie. Third period and James Cooper needing only 1:15 into the period to collect his 5th goal of the playoffs and Stanley Cates collected his first playoff goal at the 12:01 mark to put the predators up 4-1. Kirby McLaughlin finally broke the 0-7 power play scoreless streak with his 5th playoff tally for North Carolina but it was too little too late as North Carolina went down 4-2.

Game 5 opted to take the foot off the offensive all out gas on the tied portion of the game and left Mcgranaghan in to try to close it out. Another game another fight as it was Cates and Jerabek lightning each other up midway into the first but the scoring broke when Brendan Janssens scored on a rebound power play for a 1-0 predator lead. 24 seconds into the second period Zainullin blasted one home to take a 2-0 lead for his 4th playoff goal. Anton Nilsson tallied his first on the power play at the 6:34 mark to give the Predators a 3-0 lead. For once Nashville played defense shutting down North Carolina's attack with only 12 shots (6 each) after two periods while Nashville recorded 14/15 for 29 after two. Third period saw three minor penalties but Nashville's defense continued to tighten down allowing only five shots in the period and Mcgranaghan was stellar seeing only 17 shots but stopping all 17 for the cup clinching 3-0 shutout

Nashville went 2-8 on the power play and NC went 0-6 on theirs.

Awards MVP went to Satterlee (duh after all he only had 43 goals (tied for first with Detroit's Dave Compher (21st pick initial 2015 draft) (who was awarded top goal scorer (bug alert) 60 assists and 103 points to EASILY win top point getter. Leads the league with 298 points as well. Dallas' Mikko Jeskanen won the goalie MVP despite getting hammered by Nashville in the second round with 38 wins and a 92 Save % (both career highs) Hartford Mariners Filip Zidek had 19G 66A in his junior playing season (and MVP) before being drafted by Hartford . in 2016-17 he tallied 16G 52A and added just one more measly assist to win him defensemen of the year this season. Las Vegas Scott McQuade was rookie of the year with his 24G 29A +0 season. North Carolina GM George Hinson won GM of the year (I won in the league debut) NY Guardians Duane Convey won Best Defensive forward award. Satterlee 103 points was the only 100 pointer of the season second place was Kent Nix out of Hartford with 82 but won the +/- award with a +58. Thomas Ftoma was traded by Detroit earlier in the season to Edmonton and despite his 20-7-1 record he won for best save percentage and was given a contract extension by Edmonton $2.52 mil for two years after being signed by Detroit for 3.28 mil for one year. Douglas Scanlon finally proved (sort of) he is the toughest goalie to beat winning the GAA award at 2.11 despite a 27-19 record. Playoff MVP was rumored to be McGranaghan with his 13-1-2 1.4 GAA and 947 save % but it was awarded to Jan Prozchazka who came to Nashville via FA at 5.05 mil for two years tallying 2g 12A (2/3 on the PP)

Gatlinburg Rocky Tops (Nashville's minor league affiliate) went from a 37/36/9 record in 2015/16 to a playoff spot 38/35/9 last season to a 49/28/5 lost in game seven of the finals to Albany (Warbirds)
