Injuries during pre-season

Most NHL training camps started this year around mid-September, so should there be practice injuries before then? I lost a player for six months on August 12th.

Off-ice injuries exist. Let´s see what others report, should we get a feeling that they are to many, we will tweak it of course.

Remember, this is why it is called a beta: we need the feedback to fix/tweak certain areas.

Sounds fair.Like the look of it so far!

Injuries do seem to be a little too high, I keep seeing guys go down for an extended period of time in all leagues. I am not through September yet.

As I said, we need this kind of info to tweak it for the final release.

I've noticed the injuries algorithm to be a little high as well for sure.

I've gotten as far as playing one pre-season game as the Ottawa Senators. During a pre-season practice Bobby Ryan tears a bicep and is out for 6 months and then a couple of days later in the very first pre-season game, Dion Phaneuf gets a fractured ankle is out for 4 months!

I'm seeing this, too.

Would it be possible to turn down the occurance rate, and also update the news report to reflect either an off-ice injury, or that it didn't occur as part of a team function?

The injury frequency in general seems alright, but I've also experienced long term injuries being a bit over the top. Though this isn't strictly pre-season in my case, I assume it relates to long term injuries being a bit too common in general.

We made bigger changes to the injury system today, doing minor and major injuries separately. That makes it much more easy to control the frequency of both. Not sure if it makes it into the first update but it will definitively be part of the release version.

Preseason injuries are very frequent, and very extreme:

Aug 17 - Kari Lehtonen - 11 months (neck laceration)
Aug 18 - Zack Parise - 10 months (fractured skull)
Aug 19 - Ben Bishop - 17 months
Aug 20 - Joel Ward - 7 months

The Players' Association would never stand for the off-season practices that cause all of this!

Also seems to be quite a few injuries during practices. I played for a couple of guys during the '70's that would have lost what little of their minds they had left if someone got seriously hurt at a practice! Not to say the practice weren't high tempo and physical but no one got hurt.

Playing as Washington. Just started the 2nd season and after 10 games into the season I've got 4 of my top 5 guys injured for a combined of 850 days. And I've got at lot of short injuries too. Feels a bit much

As we wrote already, we will tweak/change the system. Hopefully we will have it in the first update but it will be in with the official release at the latest.
