The Syrups swept Bluffton on the road, leaving them in a commanding position to take home the Silver Crown. One victory at Wheatland does the job. Even if they lose all three, the chasers need to win out to pass them. For Bluffton that would be 13 straight, for Port Ruppert 12 straight, and for Terra Incognita 10 in a row. Sure seems like they'll be partying among the sugar maples soon.

In-play update in B248...Ozark have slumped heavily, and are on an 8 game skid, which include a sweep at the hands of the Philadelphia Patriots, putting them at 8-9 in Our League play with just 4 to go, eliminating them from title contention. Philadelphia finishes their Our League slate at 12-11, a .521 win%. Neither will be wearing the crown.

Neither will Daytona Beach, who finish at 5-5 in Our League competition after losing 2 out of 3 in their final OL series against the now champions-elect New York Patriots. Despite Bert Blyleven (12-8) going the distance, it was Mark Mulder (3-2) who got the win after the Patriots did what they've done all season when they've fallen behind. They rallied from a 2-0 deficit caused by a George Foster solo HR and a Robin Ventura RBI single. Babe Herman got the multi-inning rally started with an RBI single. In the 5th, Dave Cash grinded out an RBI single to tie it, and finally in the 6th Pete Rose drove in Jose Reyes with what would turn out to be the game-winning sacrifice fly. New York wins 3-2, and are just one Asheboro loss away from clinching their first ever Our League crown!

The only way a tie can happen at this point would be if Asheboro wins all 9 of their remaining games to finish at 21-14, which would also be .600, and then we would go to the tiebreakers.

Now I have to take off my impartial hat...I apologize for this in advance.

In I207, looks like Arkham will win the AC Central, with Mudville and Stephensville claiming the AC wild card spots. In the NC, either Motown or Frankenthal will win the NC West, and the other will be a wild card team. Motown and Frankenthal play each other 6 times in the last week of the season to decide who wins the division.

Motown just ended an 18-game winning streak (none of them were OL games, naturally!)

As long as they are and have always been free to play and do not have, nor will ever have, any Live, Future Legend, or Player of the Month card active, you are most welcome. Any player before 2019 is eligible. If that fits any or all of your teams, please join us. See posts 1531 and 1532 on page 77 of this thread.

Tell us your manager and team's name

then follow the process outlined in post 1531:

- friend everyone in Entry/Iron/Bronze
- make sure your league placement setting is set to Friends List

and we will nag everyone in Iron and Bronze to friend you. Hopefully the league placement gods will be listening and you'll get placed with the other OL teams in Iron next week.

The crowning party for the New York Patriots can officially get underway. With Asheboro's 5-4 loss to Ozark on September 26, 2027, the New York Patriots have officially clinched the B248 Our League championship! After three frustrating weeks at bronze, New York ignored the line of succession and went 9-6 in OL play to wrap it up. On the season as a whole, the Patriots are 92-60 and have clinched at worst a wildcard berth.

Now they have another task at hand with 10 games to go in the regular season. Do better than the Hamilton Donzeitos (92-60) and win the AC East which they have led pretty much from start to finish.

The Freeloaders have clinched relegation and will indeed be headed back down to Diamond for 2028.

Adding on to their successful season, the New York Patriots have clinched the AC Eastern Division in B248. After taking the first 3 of their final 4 game series against the San Francisco Giants, those wins handed fellow Our League members Daytona Beach Pickleballers the AC Western division.

It will be an "Our League" matchup in the Divisional round as the #2 seed New York Patriots face the #3 seed Daytona Beach Pickleballers. At least one team will be going up to silver for sure.
