Using card templates
Can anyone guide me through using a different card template. I have the template I like, but I don't know what to do next. Been using OOTP for a decade and sometimes still feel like a noob.
Thanks |

Nobody can help with this? Doesn't bode well for the feature.

I don't think this forum gets a lot of views...
Anyway, there is a baseball cards folder (bb_cards, I think) in the base OOTP directory (at the same level as saved_games). The template files need to go in there. Make sure you save off the default templates that come with the game or you'll have to reinstall the game to get them back. If the new template is named with the same naming convention as the OOTP released ones (default.xml, allstar.xml, etc), then the next time you start up OOTP, the new templates will be used. Sometimes the mod makers give their templates unique names so they can coexist with other templates in the bb_cards folder. In that case, you have to manually create the cards for the players you want to do that for. In OOTP15, go to the player editor* and you'll find the option to generate baseball cards in the same place where you can generate a new facegen photo for a player. When you choose the option to generate a new baseball card, you can choose any of the templates you have installed in the bb_cards folder. Make sure to give your card a unique name if you want it to coexist with other cards from the same year. Regular baseball cards are named with the player name and year. Awards/allstar cards have an indication of such in the name. What I often do is if I have, say, 1982 Topps and 1982 Fleer cards for my player, I'll indicate the brand name when naming so I can see both for a player. Note that there is an as yet unfixed issue with the naming convention in that because it uses player name instead of player ID, you can have cross naming issues if two players have the exact same name. * - In OOTP15, the player editor is available to everyone in online leagues, but non-commishes will only see information that is ok for them to see. Ratings and such are not visible. - In OOTP14, the baseball cards option is available throughout the player screens via menu at the bottom of the screen for player picture options.
