How to use Database?

I am trying to run a historical season from 1901 on and I can set it up fine, but after the season the draft pool is filled with fake players and I can't get the new players from 1902 imported into the game. I am on a MAC and I downloaded the database produced by Spritze for my version of the game, 2012. Any help would be appreciated because this is very frustrating. I am sure it is something easily corrected but I keep trying and failing to do this.

Thanks.

Make sure you have "import real players" checked in your league setup. Should be under the historical tab.

You will also have a check box where you can assign them to actual teams according to history. If you just want them to go to the draft pool, then don't check that box.

Bluenoser, I do that. It tells me it can't find the database path and then I get fake players. Can you tell what I might be doing wrong?

Like, what steps exactly do I need to do to get that database properly loaded into my game? I have 2012 on a MAC.

Mac, or PC?

If PC, Windows does a most aggravating thing for advanced users: It splits your OOTP files into two different locations.

In the Documents folder, is where your league files and such should go. There is the other folder (can't think of which one off the top of my head) where the essential OOTP files go.

Barring the above, I don't think there actually is a stats.csv file. There's a stats folder, with all the different types of .csv files that are statistics files.

If the computer WANTS a stats.csv file, then it's either probably a bug with the OOTP game, or else Spritze needs to create one for download. But I don't see why it should be needed.

Looking at the photos dicksty provided, there should be another hierarchical layer called "historical_import_path."

Looks like he just threw a random stats folder directly into the OOTP Baseball 12 folder. The "stats" folder should be inside of a historical import folder, which is inturn inside the OOTP 12 Baseball folder. That is where the game seems to be trying to find your historical imports. That's probably how it was originally installed.

So, it should be like this, if you have the exact same error:

OOTP12/database/historical_imports/stats.

Or

OOTP/addons/historical_imports/stats.

Look around in all those folders, and try to locate a folder that says something about "historical." Then copy-paste your stats folder inside of that. If it works, delete the original "stats" file, as you already have an exact copy working in the proper folder.

for Windows, make sure it's in the right half of where the modified, user-created/downloaded OOTP files are supposed to go. Not in the "essentials" half of the OOTP install.
