The Detroit Diesel (OTM)

Just a little over 7 weeks ago my Mum passed away, I could probably of stepped to one side from the Calzones of the PEBA and returned. The thing is I didn't know how long it would take to not only get my mind back on OOTP but also to sort her things out, trust me you have no idea how much stuff and paperwork you have to sort out until your in that situation. I'd like to say thank you for the kind messages sent to me from members of not only the PEBA members but that of the OOTP boards it was much appreciated.

Anyway I got back on the horse so to say, however this time it isn't the Calzones of the PEBA it's the Detroit Diesel of the Over The Mound. I just want to thank both rocknfire7 and cephasjames for the logos, caps and unis, they simply make the game better and more realistic, thank you.

So the Detroit Diesel started in the OTM in 2015 it's been feast or famine for them only 1 championship at this moment in time but they do have pockets of play off appearances mostly via the wild card.

Build Me A Dynasty.

Build me a Dynasty is the team focus of the Detroit Diesel of the Over the Mound, now I can write a dynasty but to build a dynasty is a different matter. I've built team's, I've won a couple of leagues years ago, I've been in many a play off spot but never a dynasty have I built so join me and The Detroit Diesel on a journey through a dynasty be it writing or playing or maybe even both.

The Detroit Diesel play in the Heinhsohn Division of the Over the Mound baseball league, they are rumoured to be Markus Heinhsohn's favourite OOTP team but don't quote me on that, maybe Vin Diesel's favourite team I haven't heard him say otherwise. They play in the Ballpark of Detroit (yeah need to change that), there ballpark is a neutral 0.980 over the board for average and 1.000 for homers with 0.980 for doubles and triples are at 0.960.

The Ballpark of Detroit will be named the Donald Perreault Field after Donald Perreault.

Perreault a native of Rawdon, Canada was an infielder for Detroit from 2035 to 2050 holding the record for most games played in a Detroit uniform at 2,188. He started in all the infield positions mainly at 3B (978) and 1B (562) but also had spells at SS (149) and 2B (14).

Dorwin Falls, Rawdon, Canada.

At this moment in time FA is closed but when it opens Detroit will be active in the market, we have a solid core of players but the holes we do have are at the infield positions bat the 1B slot with Curt Tagavilla being one if not the best 1B in the OTM.

Trade wise we maybe quiet and see what happens through ST, however we have had a multitude of offers for Mal Richardson out 2B who as the second highest WAR stat in the majors only behind Tagavilla.

On the whole I've seen a lot worse teams with a losing record, we lack depth but hopefully that'll be taken care of in FA and the draft. It could also happen in the trade market but so far I've not had my socks blown of yet, so the Dynasty maybe a slow burner if anything.

Breaking News.

Well we signed out first FA of the off season, glad it was Kimura however I have a few offers simmering and would love to have had a couple more under the Detroit umbrella.

This is how the news broke.

Quote:
3B Kimura, Detroit Reach $86,000,000 Pact.

Tuesday, December 31st , 2075.

Fans of Kojiro Kimura and the Diesel have much to rejoice about as the talented third baseman scribbled his signature on a $86,000,000 deal this afternoon that will keep him in Detroit for 5 years.

Seen as an up and comer, Kimura will no doubt enhance Detroit's chances to go to the playoffs on an annual basis.
Whilst Skip Hodges is a capable 3B, if Kimura pays off it'll allow Hodges to cover for 2B, 3B and SS. It makes the major league roster a lot more flexible, only time will tell if it makes it better.

In other news.

Lonnie Barr Signed a MiLC.

Very happy with the signing of R.J. O'Reilly a lefty who up to now as spent his career with the Pittsburgh River Bandits, it's actually a like for like swap for Pat Garner.

Pat Garner was on our roster last season, although his numbers were a bit better than O'Reilly, Garner was asking for $16m per season that as risen to $19m since he hit FA whilst O'Reilly wanted $3.5m. Garner is the better pitcher but over $15m better I'd have to say no.

We are in talks with about 1/2 dozen more players but they'll have to be kept under wraps for the moment.

Our next big signing is Doug Moss, Moss is classed as a starting pitcher and he's old, a 35 old. It's highly doubtful he'll start a game, he's been brought in to play out of the bullpen for a season. Why did Detroit with him? Cheap but most of all he doesn't give up the long ball, long as he keeps the ball down I think we have a shot in any game.

Breaking News.

Artie Murphy (pitcher) was the big splash of the day as we signed him to a 2-year contract worth a total of $3,200,000, we also signed Mario Alarcon (pitcher), Artie Bryant (pitcher) along with Armando López (pitcher) and Jonathon Gibson (catcher) to major league contracts.

Detroit also signed the following players to minor league contracts Mitch Reeves (pitcher), Thad Hollis (pitcher), Julián Rodríguez (pitcher), 1B Jonathon Walter, 1B Lorenzo Ortíz, Carlos González (pitcher) and Carlos Figueroa (catcher).

Spring Training.

It may only be the first game of Spring Training but Detroit got of to a flyer scoring 6 runs in the 1st inning against the Providence Reds in a 10-7 win, they followed that up with an extra inning 4-5 (11) defeat to the Pittsburgh River Bandits.

That defeat was followed by a mini losing streak with a 4-7 loss to the Boston Ninja Black Sox one of the favourites for this year's TIM Championship, the bitter poll was a 0-8 shut out to the Lowell Knights a team they'll have to beat to make the play offs. Detroit got back to winning ways though with a 9-6 victory over the Brooklyn Hoodrats.

Spring Training.

A morale boosting 6-1 victory over Tri-City was followed by a 1-6 reversal at the hands of the New York Gothams, a 4-2 win against the Schenectady Blue Jays was followed by a close 1-2 loss to Asheville and a heavy 2-13 defeat to the Reds from Providence.
