JUAN FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ BW (1976-1982) Hometown - Almeria, Spain 20(9)-9-4; 1 NC Rodriguez had an up-and-down career. His best years were bracketed by two failed attempts to secure the Spanish Bantamweight Title four years apart. Both times, Rodriguez lost to Esteban Eguia; on a DQ in 1977 and by way of ten round decision in 1981. In the years between, Rodriguez' career was a bit of a wild ride. In late 1977, Juan Francisco received a chance at the WBC title but was stopped in five by Carlos Zarate. The following year, he defeated a very good fighter in Franco Zurlo to secure the European Title. He would go on to defend the title twice, winning a controversial and foul-plagued mixed decision over Johnny Owen and a second decision win over Laurent Grimbert. The title passed from Rodriguez by way of unanimous decision in a rematch with Johnny Owen. Rodriguez received one more shot at the EBU title when it was vacated due to the death of Johnny Owen in his WBC title bid against Lupe Pintor. Unfortunately for Rodriguez, he was out pointed by Valerio Nati in Italy. Other bouts of note for Rodriguez were an eight round decision over Isidoro Cabeza, an eight round loss to Mike Irungu and a stoppage loss to Loris Stecca as Juan Francisco's ring career was in decline.

JUAN FRANCISCO RODRIGUEZ BW (1976-1982)
This is an awful picture. Rodriguez is on the left in this grainy photo with Owen to the right. I am at the 'bad' computer and cannot even crop and re-size. I was hopeful that someone would be able to do what they can with it or better yet, locate a decent picture.

Heini Meinhardt Rating 4 France
Middleweight 1961-66 31 wins / 3 losses / 1 draw / 11 KO Birthplace: Hamburg, Germany Rating by: Rocco Del Sesto Meinhardt is shown as a Light Heavyweight in Boxrec based on his last handfull of fights and I'm sure that his very last career fight was getting KO'd in the 8th round by Lothar Stengel in a bout for the German Light Heavyweight Title. The majorit of his career would look to be fought as a middleweight and thus his rating here in that division. Meinhardt was 14-0-0 in May 1963,when he defeated Manfred Hass in a 12 round decision for the then vacant German Middleweight Title. After 3 more victories he successfuly defended his title against Klaus Stockmann in November 1963 knocking out Stockman in the 9th round. After an 8 round decision win over Jean Ruellet, Meinhardt went into the ring in April 1964 to defend his middleweight title for a second time. This time it was against veteran Peter Muller. Muller Knocked Meinhardt out in the 5th round to take the title away. Meinhardt never fought again for a title in the middleweight division. After 4 more fights, including his 2nd career loss, this to Bo Hogberg in October 1964, Meinhardt then made the move up to the light heavyweight class. From March 1965 through the title fight with Stengel, he won 8 consecutive fights including defeats of Lion Ven, Erich Walter twice, and Danilo Zoratti twice. |

Not a great picture of Love Allotey, but at least it is something. If anyone can find something better, that'd be great.
