Online League News Feed Problem
I have had an active support ticket for a month with no help to this problem so I need to post it here.
I am Commissioner of an online FHM6 league and we are having problems with random news feed items when the game is saved and closed, random from other teams and other leagues, as well as award emails being sent out in February and we all feel this is a vital part of the online league experience to get correct news feed and development reports etc. I have tested around and narrowed it down to the db_news file is not overwriting as it should when the game is closed. The news will display properly when the sim is taking place, but once the game is closed all those news items are replaced with random ones. The file date on the db_news file is from November showing it does not overwrite. I have restarted a new base game test and it seems to be updating correctly so it doesnt seem to be game related, just league file related. I have posted a link below to our most recent league files. It would be greatly appreciated if you are able to diagnose the problem and help us save our league before the need to blow it up and start from scratch! Thank you in advance. Can you PM me the password for the commissioner account (the other one with your name, not the Sabres one)? I suspect I know what's going on there, but I'll need that to confirm it.

Thanks, checked it after I got the password and it wasn't what I thought it might be. We're going to have to take a closer look at this - as you said, the db_news file will get rewritten in a normal online game but it's not happening in yours no matter how I try to save it, it just remains on that 11/13/19 version. Even if I delete the db_news file and have it generate a new one, it starts doing the same thing with that version - it'll stay stuck on the initial version of that file.

OK, we think we have a fix for it: close the game, and copy the db_news file (should be 8KB) from the \quickstart_games\Current.quick folder into the save, replacing the old db_news file. If there is a db_news-shm and/or a db_news-wal file, delete them. Then start the game again, go to the news screen and delete all the messages. The older messages will be gone, but the news should resume working normally after that.
