OOTP20- Miami Marlins Dynasty
Welcome to my Miami Marlins Dynasty Report for OOTP 20.
I am actually a Dbacks fan, however I moved to South Florida this past year so will be following the Marlins locally and going to some games throughout the year. I enjoy a challenging experience in OOTP to build up a franchise, so I chose the Marlins. My playstyle in OOTP is to play every individual game as the manager and GM, so it will take time to play through each season, but I enjoy the control. My initial thought is to update the thread every 15-20 games with how the team is progressing or if there any other major updates throughout the year. I've already played the first 20 games, so I will be posting that update below. I hope you'll enjoy! Our goals: Last edited by azdevil2004; 03-25-2019 at 08:56 PM. |

Walk-Off Winner!
Down 4-0 facing Max Scherzer, it was looking bleak for the Marlins.
However in the bottom of the 6th, Martin Prado, on his hot streak, delivered a 2-run HR to cut the lead to 4-2. Bottom of the 7th: RBI double by Granderson, and 2-run single by JT Riddle put the Marlins in front 5-4. However, it wouldn't be a Marlins game without some drama in the bullpen. Top of the 9th - Juan Soto - solo shot to tie it at 5-5. The game would go extra innings and in the 11th, Lewis Brinson, nursing a bruised shoulder, would pinch-hit and deliver the game winning single to bring home the winning run. Taking a game from the division leading Nationals, in a game where ace Max Scherzer was on the hill, is a great win for the Marlins! |

30 Game Mark
Welcome back - We've reached the 30-game mark at 13-17.
Not easy playing two, 2-game series with Cleveland within 7 days, in which all 4 games are against Bauer and Carrasco, twice. Game 1: Bauer - 8.0 IP, 0 ER, 14K Game 2: Carrasco - 8.0 IP, 1 ER, 6K Game 3: Bauer - 7.0 IP, 1 ER, 8K Game 4: Carrasco - 8.0 IP, 3 ER, 5K Losing 3 out of 4 to Cleveland, and 3 out of 4 against PHI has put a dent in the standings and also the team's batting average. The lone shining spot for the team is Starters ERA still 5th in the NL, and 2 starters with ERAs below 2.30 - Trevor Richards and Caleb Smith. Now in the month of May; next 3 series: ATL, @CHC, @NYM |

All-Star Break
Been awhile since the last update, but we are now at the All-Star Break.
Record: 34-55 Team Leaders: HRs - Lewis Brinson 13 RBI - Yulieski Gurriel, 39 WAR - JT Riddle, 2.4 (made All-Star team, and won All-Star MVP) SP ERA - Pablo Lopez, 3.21 Ks - Caleb Smith, 81 We've made some transactions during the year to try and revamp the current team, while preparing for the years to come with our budget. Most notably: Acquired 1B Yulieski Gurriel for 2B Starlin Castro. Gurriel's salary next year is 8m compared to Castro's team option of 16m. I felt I would not hold onto Castro in 2020 at 16m, so this was a great move to acquire a solid player in return that is more affordable at 8m next year. Acquired RF Gerardo Parra for LF Garret Cooper. Both were making 555k this year, but Cooper batting .221 to Parra's current .298. We extended Parra for 2 more years at 1.9m in 2020, 2.4m in 2021 with a team buyout. Despite our terrible record, attendance per game is up 20% by acquiring a few local popular players that fan interest has reacted in growing slightly. We will be looking to make a few other trades before the deadline to get the roster reshaped towards 2020. |

8 Game Win Streak - is this true?
Over the past 10 games, we've gone 9-1, 8 that were in a row!
We have the pitching staff on a 6-man rotation, maybe this is the key to turnaround as the runs allowed in the 8-game win streak were: 2, 3, 1, 2, 3, 0, 1, 3. Unfortunately, our recent winning streak has only brought our record up to 40-56, but getting closer to our goal of ending the season close to .500! |
