Tactical confusion

Maybe a stupid question, but it's not quite clear to me. In the tactics window under Units there is a checkbox "Use settings" in the upper right corner. Which settings are used when the box is selected? The global or the unit settings?

And does this checkbox also have a direct influence to the tactical tendencies at the bottom of the window or do they remain unaffected?

I just saw that in the current video on the OOTP Youtube channel my question was answered

If the checkbox is set, the global settings will be overwritten.

Right, if any of the 'use' boxes on the lower tiers (units, players) are on, the choices in their section will override those set at a higher level.

Thank you for your response. Is it possible to use an option in the Action Menu that unchecks all checkboxes in the Unit and Player window? It is very annoying to turn off all checkboxes individually.
