I may have missed this one in the list, and sure hope I haven't overlooked this one in the game, but I would love to see a "shop a player" feature.

First of all, you sound like you're making a demand instead of a request. I'm sure this wasn't your intention to do so but you do get more respect when you're polite.

Small request

I would like to see infield in, outfield in, guard lines etc. showing on field view so you know the status both for your team and the team you are playing. Right now you don't know defensive team status. And I still don't know my own status. For example after a batter changes does infield in go away or is it still on if I don't physically changes.
Second in request when setting up strategy show percentages. For example pull starters instead more or less frequent use exact numbers even in multiples of 10% instead of just a slider.

I'd like to see:
(1) more options for fictional league structures, especially leagues that mirror historical MLB configurations (like 2 8-team leagues with no divisions)
(2) option to disable finances completely (like pre-1975 or so baseball)
(3) situational substitutions in manager settings (late inning defensive specialists)
(4) option to start fictional leagues in a year other than the current one, with era-adjusted stats (so I could do a fictional deadball league, for example)

Thanks for asking!

apparently you've only read the first two lines of my post.

i'm fairly new to these forums but in the ones i have been active in, seeking out conflict isn't exactly approved by the mods.

when i answered your question i meant to be helpful, not insulting. I did respond to your demand with relevant information. This is a suggestion thread anyways, and you've what you've posted is an off topic personal jab. your beef with me shouldn't extend to the forums

and yes, this is me being hypocritical and going offtopic myself so I'll cap this off with a suggestion.

Have you guys considered the ability to do an inaugural draft for historical leagues and 2011? when you use the fictional league bug to get it the finances are reset. For example, the yankees wage budget goes from 230 million to 130-160 million

Something that I think would be helpful would be a pause in the action when the AI makes a substitution, since it's not always obvious that one has been made. This is especially crucial when a team brings in a lefty to face your LH PH, and you have a masher on the bench.

1. When going thru a list of players (example: Active players), I hate to have to literally push a button to go to the next page of players. You should be able to scroll thru the complete list. I don't think I've ever seen any Windows based program do this. It seems like it's an old DOS way to go through a list. Fixing this would make the game easier to navigate, especially since on the i platform the number of players on a page is quite small. Since it is a standard way to present things in Windows (or on the MAC) I can't see how this can be a huge issue.
This is in in the PC version. It's under preferences.

Another thing that I would like to see is under strategy and offense would be "work pitch count"

I just want to let you know that I follow this thread closely! At the moment I take a lot of time to work on the first update so my time is limited. But I will keep you updated on the progress and the features we will add.

So far it seems that Shop Player/Trade Block are high on the list, I will take a look tomorrow.

Yes! It's starting to wear out my fingers to do it manually (and it makes a huuuuuuge difference if your hitters have good eye/contact/avoid K).

Definitely Trade Block and shop player. Also:
written scouting reports,
player short lists,
When viewing just pitchers, default to showing pitching ratings and for just batters, batting ratings.
New fictional quickstart: 2 league, 8 teams in each league but just one sub league with no interleague and one round post season - or even an elementary league creation wizard.

Love the game, not too daunting for noobs like me to get into unlike ootp :0)

The more I play the game, the more I am disappointed with player growth. Don't get me wrong, I actually think its a very good growth system. There are just a few things I think should be improved in the next update.

1) Rather than having a new feature for position training, have players improve at the position they are set at. This would include all related attributes, not just their overall at that position. So if a guy is set at catcher, his catching ability and catcher arm should improve. I understand that the arm shouldn't improve a ton, but we should see some growth out of young guys in this area. The same goes for infielders/outfielders.

2) It seems base running ability, speed & bunting never really change. The game should grow these attributes based on how you have your strategy set. So if you have a very aggressive base running team, your teams ability in that area should improve at least a little.

3) There should be an off season program that we can set, say we choose "general", "contact", "eye", "defense", "speed", "strength" and the players growth should reflect whatever category you have set. I don't care if there is individual training (although it would be nice), I would be ok with a team training program.

4) Please give us the ability to have a pitcher learn new pitches. I'm thinking it would be a randomly generated pitch from one of the 3 categories: "fastball", "breaking ball", "off speed". Since everyone already has at least 2 pitches (most have a fastball & one of the other categories), then whatever pitch is generated would come from the category that the player lacks. Of course this is where "movement" and "stuff" potential would come into play. Obviously not everyone will be able to learn a new pitch, but we should at least have the ability to have them try to. Depending on how much potential a player has left would determine the new pitches' overall potential.

Isn't iOOTP designed to be fairly simple to pick up and play? Turning iOOTP into OOTP (the flagship product) with all of these additional features and options might undermine that objective. Just a thought.

The ability to print or save to print would be great.

Cheers,

I joined just to comment in this thread.

Id love the ability to export all the player data and stats to txt or csv format then be able to email it to myself. Currently I am having to record all player data by hand and its really making this otherwise incredible game a drag.

1. Draft Pick, Free Agent, & Trade History

2. Page To See Who I extended Free Agent Contracts too

3. Easier way to see individual pitching stats.

Hi, I reckon some of the suggested enhancements such as a trade block, would simplify the game - saves going through all the teams to see if they have anyone they want to sell. I agree that iootp should be kept simple and not just have features added to increase complexity. But adding features that speed up gameplay gets my thumbs up

Will most of the new features on the list work without us starting over or will we have to start a new league to get them to work? I'm hesitant to start a league knowing some great features could be added over the next few weeks.

100% right that the handheld version should be easy to pick up and play. With good creativity in the design phase, a lot of these features could be implemented while still keeping the game easy to pick up and play. Of course, it could backfire if they aren't careful. Personally I think the User Experience of the game needs a little work. I am a first timer to the entire OOTP series and I had some trouble finding my way around for the first few days of iOOTP already.

The only one you need to wait on is the fix for the game crash which has already been submitted to Apple and could be out any minute. I wouldn't wait for the next update after that, since it could be a while.

Totally agree with the data export request. Also, the trading block feature as others have mentioned. Third, would love the ability to add a couple of new teams to the AL and do expansion draft, starting in 2011 and going forward.
