I've gone through periods when I haven't followed baseball closely, but I've managed either to watch or listen to the entirety of both of the Astros' combined no-hitters (the last one in... 2003? against the Yankees).

I'm impressed! I don't think I've ever seen a no-hitter.

I've never successfully pitched one in OOTP, which you'd think would be the easier feat. :-/

What got into the Nats? 62 runs in the last 5 games and that includes a 2-1 win over Milwaukee. 19 HR's in this stretch.

I'm with Pockets. The LL Classic was just awesome! I've never really paid attention to it, but that was really neat to see an MLB game in that little stadium and in a neighborhood like that! I loved the unis (except I wish the Pirates' unis would've said BUCCS or BUCCOS) and it seemed like a fun atmosphere for all involved! I would love to see the Royals get to play in it.
I was looking at the homes beyond the outfield thinking how cool it would be to pitch a chair in front of a window and watch the game. I bet that neighborhood is pretty buzzing leading up to and during the game. Good, good decision by MLB! |

No Pete, really? Smashed the NL rookie record for dingers on Sunday, and nothing? Do the Mets still exist? Did I miss something?
Really, MLB pen pawns? Really? I am THIS close to writing an angry letter!

Maybe it's me. But MLB teams' roster construction increasingly baffles me. Watching Angels-Rangers now, because it's all that is on and I have nothing else to keep me company. (Go get a pet, they said.) They are playing two today, so there is a 26th man involved. Yet, this is the bench the Angels come up with:
Ohtani (DH) Pujols (1B at best) Stassi (C) Now, what the heck are they going to do if anybody other than starting 1B Matt Thaiss or DH Justin Upton are tweaking a toenail? I know the AL plays with silly rules and doesn't have to bother with actual strategy, but are injuries not a concern? Everybody but the first baseman is expected to play two today? No rest, rotation? Probably it's me. I am just overthinking this with my insistence of always having a super utility that can play at least four or five positions between infield and outfield and I will carry that sod around for years, even if he bats .191/.209/.250 every year.

Phillies and Marlins played a 19-11 game Friday night, Marlins coming back from 7-0 down in the third.
Today, the two teams are at 0-0 through nearly 5 and a half innings. Baseball, man (since I was typing this, a 2 run homer from Hoskins ruins my point a little, but hey )

I didn't understand players weekend. When they did the Cubs/Pirates little league classic I thought that was phenomenal. The kids had the time of their lives and the color/design ideas on the uniforms and gear was fantastic. Then you fast forward a week to the actual players weekend and the home jerseys were white on white and the roadies black on black? It was very difficult to read the nicknames on the home jerseys and the teams looked very bland. What happened to all the color? I love the idea of the whole thing but I just can't figure out why they restricted the uniforms so incredibly much?
