I find it very rewarding knowing that I have watched every at bat of my franchise since its inception. Not only that, not every game is the same and its fun watching the players and my team as a whole hit milestones, set team records and break their own individual records as it happens in real time. I think its awesome I've played out thousands of games and I still can't predict whats going to happen. The game of baseball is great.
Exactly.

When I set my fictional league live, I plan to play "God" and adjust the parameters as time goes, and let all the teams play themselves without my micromanaging interference. So I will likely sim the whole season at once. To me, the fun will be changing the parameters from season to season and viewing/reacting to/reporting on the results, letting the chips fall where they may.

Of course, if "God" sees something goofy happening--like one team winning 10 championships in a row, or another team getting relentlessly smoked for a decade or so--"He" may do something to shake things up for them.

How Do You Play?

It strictly GM for me and I never mass sim (if thats a thing) I only sim days using the real time sim and I'll sometimes multitask with other things while this is happening or I would explore my world and maybe follow a couple of games. I also like to watch my manager manage the games most of the time. It only takes about 30 minutes max.

You do learn a lot by watching sometimes, especially if you have the pitch diagram up. You get a feel for just how bad some players are struggling or how good some pitchers are. Personally, I won't trade for a starting pitcher without watching him through a few innings.
