Stan Davis - England - HW
Career Record: W5(KO 1) / L11(KO 6) / D1 I had a file in my data base. I don't know who did it. Did some updating. BoxRec shows Davis as a LHW. Not sure why listing him as that. Majority of his fights are in the HW weight class against other HW's, so this rating is a HW. Also known as Stan Davies, listed in varying fashion as Davis and Davies in accounts of his fights in Ring Magazine and Boxing News. The BoxingHistory.org.uk website mentions him as Stan Davis of Kettering which is where he is predominately noted as from in the Ring and Boxing News accounts. The accounts in both for this fight with Ted Williams notes him as from Corby and the accounts of his 2nd fight with Tony Smith has him being from Birmingham. All the other fight accounts in the two magazines reviewed, says he is from Kettering. Looked up Kettering and Corby and found they are about 8 miles apart. I ran across a facebook page where someone listed the names of boxers local to Northampton and the time period they boxed and Stan Davis Kettering is listed 1950's to 1960's. So I've listed him as from Kettering which is in Northhamptonshire and as Stan Davis and not Davies. |

Thanks for the various thanks everyone. Trying to do a little here and there to help keep things kicking with TB here. Title Bout the board game has seen it's recent resurrection. I do hope we can see that happen at some point with the computer version.

Louis DeBolster - Belgium - HW
Career Record: W3(KO 0) / L10(KO 6) / D1 (Romultiltus) Did an original rating? Bear did one then in early 2009. This file just updates career record and career start year to 1955. Added esitmated DOB. I used Bear's rating but changed HP to 1. Rocco Play tested then with that rating which was basically Bear's. Had a good number of his opponents in my DB. Results came out real good to around actual career record. |

Johnny Douglas - Australia - MW
Career Record: W9(KO 5) / L2(KO 1) / D1 Fought exclusively around Melbourne except for one journy to Auckland, New Zealand where Douglas lost a 12 round decision to a Latia V.who sports a 2-1 career. Three most notable Douglas opponents were a 10 round decision loss to Karl Machain, TKO win and loss with Joe Damiami and TKO win over Franco Veschovi. I've rated Douglas a MW instead of LHW as listed in BoxRec. Found account of fight against Joe Damiami in March 1956 in the Ring June 56 and notes Douglas as middleweight. Many of his other opponents are listed in BoxRec as middle or welterweights. |

Career Record: W20(KO 3) / L7(KO 3) / D1 TITLES: Luxembourg Middleweight Title Won the vacant Luxembourg MW title in November 1950 defeating Georges Schiltz in a 12 round decision.BoxRec shows no account of Ehringer ever defending the title. A Wikipedia site for Ehringer notes that he boxed for Luxenbourg in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London as a lightweight. The January 1956 Ring Magazine has an account of Ehringer's last fight in Oct 1955 against Jempy Bentz. Tommy Evans - Australia - MW
Career Record: W8(KO 5) / L5(KO 2) / D0 Middleweight Evans' career was that of steaks and upsets. After winning 5 of his first 6 bouts by stoppage, the lone loss being a 10 round decision to Billy Stanley(23-19-2), Evans thne lost 4 of 5 to Steve Zoranich, Stanley, Peter Bothe and Bruce Blake. Then in 1959 after being out of the ring for 7 months, he pulled off what would have to be considered upsets against two respecible Light Heavweights, Bob Murdoch and Ernie Hughes. |

Willi Fanzlau - German - LHW / HW
Career Record: W27(KO 13) / L26(KO 9) / D12 Fought through 1950 as a Light Heavyweight looking at this opponents. He ballooned up to 185 in September 1950 to fight heavyweight Al Hoosman, then dropped back down to his LHW weight at the very end of 1950 fighting Ken Stribling. Lost a 12 round decision in October 1947 to Richard Vogt for the German Light Heavyweight title. Starting out 1951 against Heinz Seelisch I've split him then to Heavyweight division. Could not stand up to the real heavyweights looking at his split record.Fought Franco Cavicchi 4 times getting stopped by the Italian all 4 fights, 3 knockouts. LHW Record: W24(KO 11) / L11(KO 2) / D10 HW Record: W3(KO 2) / L15(KO 7) / D2 |

January 1958 Extra Fighters
Siegfried Formella - Germany - LHW
Career Record: W10(KO 6) / L17(KO 14) / D1 Formella fought in his homeland Germany exclusively up through August 1950. As you can see by his record he was easily stopped in a fight. He fought two pretty good German fighters of the 1950s, Heavywieght Neinz Neuhaus whom Formella fought in June 1949 in Neuhaus' 2nd career bout and then in Formella's next bout in August he fought Light Heavy Willi Hoepner in his debut fight. After being stopped by Harry Augustin in the 2nd round of thier 6, in August 1950, Siegfried then is not shown climbing into the ring until Decemeber of 1952 where is has relocated to Australia. He fights in Aussie land till Jan 1956 except for one venture to Vienna, Austria where he takes on Karl Machain.Would wonder what brought about him leaving Australia for that one fight? After loosing by 7th round KO to middleweight Alfie Sands in January 1956 he apparently leaves Australia for good going back to his native Germany where he in January 1957 he fights one last time, TKO'd in the 1st round against Uwe Janssen. |

Bruno Fortilli - Italy - MW
Career Record: W20(KO 7) / L6(KO 2) / D3 TITLES: Italy Middleweight Title Four accounts in 1957 and 1958 Ring Magazines found notes Fortilli's early fights with Bianchi, Sentimenti, Grego and Panunzi as cruiserweight matches.First account found mentioning him as a middleweight was his Dec 1958 fight against Louis Trochon. Keeping Fortilli rated as Middleweight only. Sept 60 Ring account of the Franco Scisciani fight for the Italy Middleweight Title ended in Scisciani when current title holder was disqualified for repeated butting in the 10th handing the title to Fortilli. Jan 61 Ring had Fortilli ranked 10th MW in Continental Ratings as of Nov 23 1960.Same ranking in Feb 61 for ending Dec 1960. World Ring Rankings that month Feb 61 had Fortilli in the Class A rankings. His loss to Michel Diouf in Oct 1961 dropped Fortilli out of Ring's Continental rankings and back down to the Class B Middleweights in the Feb 62 world rankings. Fortilli lost his Middleweight crown to Remo Carati in April 1962 with the fight stopped in the 6th due to an injury to his left eye as accounted in the July 62 ring. It was intersting that the short Ring account on this fight, commented "At last the ineffectual reign of Bruno Fortilli...is over". Fortilli's next fight in July he outpointed Michel Diouf according to the Oct 1962 Ring account despite "repeated butts" from Diouf. Then in Oct 1962 Fortilli won back the Italy Middleweight title the same way he first won the title when Carati was disqualified in the 2nd round. According the account of the fight in the Jan 1963 Ring, Carati was using his head "as a third fist from the opening gong". He caused a cut over Fortilli's left eyebrow in the 2nd round when the fight was called. Fortilli, according to BoxRec and a short article found on an Italian webpage apparently felt some revenge taking the title back from Carati and then decided to quit boxing and gave up the title. |
