Please have a setting allowing me to watch a simmed game with the manager in control
Ok so this one probably affects very few people. I play as GM/Manager and I use the "auto play until next week" to sim. However I like to watch a few games throughout the season as well as the playoffs. The problem is that the only way to currently watch a game being simmed is to turn your team over to the bench coach. This means that I will get different results when I sim depending upon whether I watch the simmed game or not. All games not watched are simmed using me as manager with my strategy settings. But any games I want to watch being simmed are played with the bench coach as manager and therefore none of my manager settings apply.
Please make it possible to watch a game being simmed with the same strategy settings as the games that get simmed without watching. |

if you do GM only you can hire a manager to manage the games and just watch thats the only way i play you will still be able to manage if you want but if not then your hired manager will

I like to play as GM/Manager. Unfortunately when playing this way, the only way to watch a game being simmed is to turn your strategy over to the Bench Coach for that game. Can't we have a setting that allows us to watch a game being simmed with the manager in control? OOTP has always maintained that the engine is the same whether you sim, watch a sim or play it out but that isn't quite the case if you play the game the way I do. I just want the game to sim in the same way whether I watch the game or not.

If you're watching a game, it will still use the team strategy settings. For all intents and purposes, if you are simply delegating everything to the AI, whether you watch a game or sim it and watch it on replay, it will handle it the same way.

You could always use Commissioner mode to edit your Bench Coach to fit your strategy. Wouldn't really have any other impact I don't think, so it's hardly cheating.

Are you sure? In order to watch a game being simmed, I have to give all the in game strategy settings to the Bench coach and base coaches. The bench coach has his own managerial style and strategy preferences. Are you saying that putting the Bench Coach in control doesn't mean that he will use his strategy preferences instead of my strategy settings?

I don't sim games, so excuse my ignorance. But isn't this what all the strategy and player strategies are for? So you can set how the AI manages your team?

Yes but watching a game being simmed is kind of a trick as there is no specific option for it. You have to play the game but in the opening screen where the lineups are shown, you need to make sure that all the in game strategies are controlled by your bench coach and base coaches. Otherwise you will be prompted for decisions in the game while trying to just watch it. It is different from just simming a game where one assumes the strategies used are the ones you have set up for the manager. But because you have to actually "play" the game, you set all the strategies to your coaches and because the bench coach has his own in game strategies, I always assumed they would be used if they were ever in control. And maybe for just a bit more clarification, even when "simming" the game this way, I still have to hit "continue" after each play. So it is like playing it but not being required to make any in game decisions.

As I said, it still uses your team strategy, not the bench coach strategy.
