Monday, July 16, 1951 JOLIET CLAIMS 2ND DIVISION CROWN It was splendid race in the North Island Second Division between the Joliet Green Giants and the Avalon Oldtimers... although they both lost on the final day of the season, Joliet claimed the division crown and beat out Avalon by one game... the Green Giants fell to third place Theodore 3-2 and the Oldtimers dropped a close one to the last place Wafford Eagles 3-2... in the other remaining game West Chester outlasted Kinston 9-7 to tie them for the fourth spot in the division. 1951 NIRL SECOND DIVISION FINAL STANDINGS Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-09-2019 at 05:24 PM. |

Wednesday, July 18, 1951 DUTTON WINS NIRL TITLE AGAIN Last year the Dutton Coyotes were the best team in the North Island Second Division, so they got promoted to the First Division and they won it all again... their biggest nemesis last year was the Jackson Jackalopes... ditto this year... the Coyotes prevailed over the Jacks again by just one game... last year's NIRL First Division champion was the Kofa Kings... this year they came in a dismal and distant third five games behind Dutton. FIRST DIVISION AWARDS ANNOUNCED The NIRL First Division recently announced the 1951 award winners... the Most Valuable Player was Dutton's ace hurler, Bernie Bartlett... not only did Bartlett take that award, he also picked up the Pitcher of the Year honor... Bartlett made 18 starts and compiled a 12-5 record with a 2.48 ERA... the 28-year-old right-hander tossed 148 innings, walked 51 and fanned 88 batters... teams could only muster a .203 batting average against him... Bartlett also got a Golden Glove. Dutton teammate Tuck Thompson came in second in the MVP balloting... he had a standout year with a .337 batting average, 8 RBIs and 17 runs scored... Thompson also was voted to the NIRL First Division Golden Glove team at second base. Coming in third in the MVP poll was Billy Mann, right fielder for the Jackson Jackalopes... Mann led the league with a .372 BA... and collected 15 RBIs, 13 runs and 10 stolen bases... Mann also copped the batting title in the NIRL Second Division last year with a lofty .438 batting average. The top defenders in the NIRL First Division were awarded Golden Gloves in recognition of their fielding prowess. 1951 North Island First Division Golden Glove Team: Pitcher: Bernie Bartlett (Dutton) (1.000 FA) (12-5, 2.45 ERA) (2-time winner) Catcher: Jack Puckett (Dutton) (.969 FA) (.357 BA) First Baseman: Peter Wallace (Dutton) (.996 FA) (.301 BA) (2-time winner) Second Baseman: Tuck Thompson (Dutton) (.985 FA) (.337 BA) (2-time winner) Third Baseman: Brad Mortillaro (New Yerby) (.977 FA) (.227 BA) Shortstop: Pat Pastoriza (Jackson) (.980 FA) (.213 BA) Left Fielder: Dan Darragh (Jackson) (1.000 FA) (.220 BA) Center Fielder: John Harper (New Yerby) (1.000 FA) (.287 BA) Right Fielder: Robby Neill (Union Heights) (.972 FA) (.267 BA) Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-10-2019 at 07:03 PM. |

Thursday, July 19, 1951 JOLLY GREEN GIANTS STAND TALL IN NIRL SECOND DIVISION The jolly Green Giants of Joliet could jolt the ball better than anybody else in the North Island Second Division and for most of the season, they had pretty good pitching, too... Joliet eked out a one-game victory over the Avalon Oldtimers to take the championship this season... the Theodore Bobcats came in third and trailed by three games... none of the other clubs were in the ballgame, so to speak, finishing far behind in the standings... next season two relegated teams, Stockdale and Union Heights, from the NIRL First Division should add a little spice to the Second Division... Avalon certainly did this year. Joliet and Avalon will get a shot at the big boys in the North Island First Division... however in 1950, the Oldtimers did not fare well in the First Division and wound up a very poor 10-20, good for the division basement... but they did add several fairly good players this year... sure they will be trying to recruit a few more this coming year... so will the other 11 clubs in the North Island Recreational League. JOLIET'S DUPEPE MVP AND MOSHER TOP HURLER Pennant-winning Joliet snared the top postseason awards in the North Island Second Division... the 1951 Most Valuable Player was the Green Giants' second sacker, Clancy Dupepe, who hit a sizzling .371 with 5 doubles and 4 homers... he topped the league with 21 ribbies and scored 12 runs... and Joliet had the best pitcher, Grant Mosher... the little right-hander went 12-2 this year with a 2.74 ERA... Mosher came in second in the MVP balloting... third place went to Kinston's fine right fielder, Doyle Goodrich, who batted .337 with 5 doubles, 5 homers, 11 RBIs and 16 runs scored. The NIRL First Division also presented Golden Gloves to the league's best glovemen. NIRL Second Division Golden Glove Team Pitcher: Dusty Pringle (West Chester) (1.000 FA) (5-8, 4.08 ERA) Catcher: Tim Lytle (Joliet) (.983 FA) (.311 BA) First Baseman: Frankie Lentini (Wafford) (.983 FA) (.258 BA) Second Baseman: Justin Hines (Theodore) (.991 FA) (.269 BA) Third Baseman: Mark Chandler (Avalon) (.960 FA) (.338 BA) Shortstop: Jason Fleming (Avalon) (.960 FA) (.301 BA) Left Fielder: Joseph Bates (Wafford) (1.000 FA) (.279 BA) Center Fielder: Zach McDonald (Joliet) (.984 FA) (.341 BA) Right Fielder: Timmy Billings (Avalon) (1.000 FA) (.230 BA) BATTING LEADERS PITCHING LEADERS Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-12-2019 at 10:28 AM. |

Working on expanding the league... hope to add the South Island First Division and the South Island Second Division for the 1952 season.
Never expanded a league before... hope it is easy to do and will work well. I plan to add two more leagues to go with the North Island First and Second Divisions... not really sure about how to do this. So far, I plan to just add two more leagues, identical to the first two leagues. Also hope to have playoffs between the four pennant winners, if all goes well. Setting up the schedule is a pain... I have to do it each year... the game apparently won't use last year's schedule... I think I have to do separate schedules manually for each of the four leagues... that a lot of work even if its only a 20--game schedule... the game doesn't know how to make a schedule for just Sunday games for 20-game seasons... it just schedules all the game within 20 days of opening day... this messes up the League Events. I'm going to try to import a schedule produced by the Modders Forum... it's for 20 games, all played on the weekend... a 6-team league. Wish me luck. Just got some great news !
Sizeman 21 is going to make me a new map to include South Island. He did the beautiful North Island map posted in the beginning of this dynasty report... Sizeman21 said he can do it even better. If he can do it better than the North Island map, that would really be something... EC is really looking forward to it. I will soon be posting all of the South Island logos, jerseys and caps... they were 90% done by the best of the best graphics guys... the South Island League is going to be a special league for me. I'm really excited... I just hope I can get it set up in the game properly... that is quite a task for the technically-challenged EC... must expand with two new leagues... and create schedule and install them in the game. Any words of advice by you computer whizzes would be greatly appreciated Wish me good fortune. Last edited by Eugene Church; 11-13-2019 at 05:46 PM. |

I have created the South Island First Division and the South Island Second Division... installed graphics... need to manually fill the rosters.
I will also have to manually create the schedule... the one I imported played games on Sunday and Monday... it was just supposed to play Sunday games. I also have to fix the graphics that didn't look good in the game. Hope to begin play in a few weeks. |

I completed the rosters for the South Ilsland First Division.
Created all of the free agents and then randomly assigned them to the six teams. Will do the South Island Second Division teams Saturday and Sunday. Got to create free agents for the Islandian Pro Alliance Saturday... that will take some time... 64 teams to assess their needs and randomly assign the free agents... may take 3-4-5 days. |

Great news!
Ruwisc created me a schedule for the NIRL and the SIRL... it only took me 15 minutes to install the schedule for all four leagues... and it took that long because EC didn't really know how to do it. If I had known the installing process, it would haven't take 2 minutes. Ruwisc saved me 30-40 hours of tedious work... bless him. Hope I can repay his help in some way. Boy, the OOTP Community really helps me. Can't wait to play the South Island League... wow! … great graphics from low and txranger… and a great schedule from Ruwisc. I am truly blessed. |

The South Island First Division and the South Island Second Division teams are ready to play... all rosters are filled with free agents.
I just need to go through the teams and create lineups and depth charts. I should start play in the North Island and South Island Leagues early next week. |

The AI is a problem... it is not supposed to make any roster changes... It just filled up my roster with 30 players... I set it to 15.
Have no idea of how this occurred. Opening day games will be played tomorrow. A special thanks to Ruwisc for making me a custom special... I will no longer have to spend tedious hours manually doing the schedule each season. Much appreciate his help. He also make me a custom schedule for the Islandian Pro Alliance. |
