Teams playing in multiple leagues in one calendar year
I'm thinking of getting back into OOTP and buying 15. I had almost every version from 2 through 10 and was never successful with a fictional league idea.
The setup is four fictional countries, each with four teams. No interleague trading and foreigner percentage set to 0. The season is 72 games with no playoffs, runs from April 1st to mid June. After the season, all the teams get moved to four other leagues based on where they finished in their national league and play another 72 game season starting from early July. Here's an example using real countries, order of finish - United States League - Chicago, Boston, New York, Los Angeles Canadian League - Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver Mexican League - Tijuana, Mexico City, Cancun, Juarez Japanese League - Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, Nagoya So the next round would look like this Diamond Cup - Chicago, Toronto, Tijuana, Tokyo Gold Cup - Boston, Montreal, Mexico City, Yokohama Silver Cup - New York, Ottawa, Cancun, Osaka Bronze Cup - Los Angeles, Vancouver, Juarez, Nagoya The problem I had with this was the standings in the League History would be all messed up. After I moved the teams back to their national league it would show their records from the cup competition. It still correctly listed the champion though. It didn't seem to matter at what date I moved the teams back, immediately after Cup awards, Jan 1st, beginning of spring training. Anybody ever try something similar or know if this would work in OOTP15? |

You need to move the teams after the preseason starts, When the standings reset to zero. Then you need to regenerate or re-import the schedule. Make sure you do this in the preseason. If you do it before you will screw up the standings and awards.

Welcome back! OOTP 15 is awesome.
I run a fictional league and to me it is the best part of the OOTP game engine. Jason ABL Commish |

Thanks for the replies. I'm going to be getting 15 soon, and I'll try what moonlight said. In the mean time I'm having fun remaking all the logos, jerseys etc for my teams.
I agree the fictional leagues are the best, that's what attracted me to OOTP way back when. |
