Why Steam?

This may have been asked before, but I searched and couldn't find any info.
Is there any reason/advantage to purchase FHM via Steam vs. directly from the Out Of the Park folks?

After monitoring the FHM development and growing pains for what is seemingly forever, I'm ready to make the purchase. I've only used Steam once, a long while back and wasn't overly impressed with going that route. Perhaps I'm missing something?

Thanks,
Rob

As far as whether you use the steam version or the OOTP direct version is a bit of personal preference.

However OOTP gets a bigger cut if you get it directly from them. The use of Steam for them is a way to expose the game to a ton of other users who might not otherwise ever be exposed to it...It's just a way for them to expand their user base.

I know some don't like Steam but I love it...however for OOTP products I always go direct.

The biggest advantage with Steam that I see is you can play on as many computers as you want, while the direct version can only be played on 2 systems.

I play many other games in Steam, but I do prefer to purchase the direct version and support OOTP by buying direct. As long as you don't need to play on more than 2 systems, I don't really see an advantage.

Thanks for the responses guys!

As I suspected, there is no real reason for me to go the Steam route.

Thats the two biggest advantages for Steam:

1. Automatic updates

2. Play it on every Computer you have Steam on (The eSellerate version is limited to 2 parallel installations).

Updates should be available at the same time.
