Rookie Tulo is a GOLD now?!
There goes everyone's favourite cheap defensive replacement
Anyone have any other examples of historical players that jumped up or down tiers this year?

Two that I noted (in addition to the Tulo) were the Rookie Sensation Vada Pinson (from a low Gold [81?] to a 79 OVR) and the 1956 All-Star Jim Gilliam (from 78 to 83)
I've also noticed a number of players have different ratings (like Garry Maddox's arm dropping from 82 to 41), to include different splits. Is it just me or are there a lot more players with wider split differentials?

I just got an 80 Dave Concepcion rated 82 at SS. He'll probably end up being my Simmons later on. He'll train to 88 at 1B, 96 at 2B, and 89 at 3B and be a better hitter.
Never been sold on AH, so don't know how much he's worth. Probably way more than Simmons. Last edited by zrog2000; 03-24-2019 at 03:09 PM. |

Pretty solid pickup. My best option is Jody Reed who is a 77 OVR and good defensively. |

A small one, but last years rookie Ronald Acuna Jr looks to be one of the better silver cards and will be much sought after for silver level tournaments. His 2019 Live card is a mid tier gold with ever so slightly worse hitting but much better defense (how the hell they came up with that I don't know 21 year olds don't tend to have a huge defensive drop off ) So if he has a sophomore slump his card could be worse than his rookie card. He would have to have a pretty impressive season to increase it's value. I don't think he will get another future legend card so we have his really good silver card and his confusing gold card. His gold card could be a food fourth OF at higher levels with it's good defense. But if he has a poor season it would be a silver card quickly. |

I also have not seen the god like 1920 Ruth card with 125 power.
Instead his peak card is now the perfect version of Ruth and looks to be more balanced. Some of the more controversial cards like Joe Kelley look to be gone as well. I would like to see that card return as well as some other 19th century cards. The Joe Kelley card deserved a perfect 100 rating since he was the best hitter of the 1890s along with Honus Wagner. The controversy was that he killed LHP when unfortunately baseball for much of his carer was not keeping split stats. But based on the stats we do have we can assume he was killing it no matter what type of pitcher he faced. I think OOTPD could responsibly include 19th century cards into the game as well as Negro League stars if they gave some explanation as to why they rated them as they do. I mean we already have lots of deadball era players who are great or terrible at base stealing when we have no statistical evidence if they were or not since baseball was not keeping caught stealing numbers until 1920 with any consistency. And that is just for the AL. It was almost 1930 before they kept them with any consistency for the NL. So that is almost 60 years of baseball history without an important statistic. |

My favorite pet Craig Swan also went up from silver to gold.

Seaver 1971 went from perfect 100 to a 97.
Ichiro went from a 69 to 74. More MLB2019 live players made perfect 100 level.

Magglio Ordonez (91 diamond) is now an (86 gold)
An ever so slight bump to hitting but his defense overall dropped a fair amount. |

Also, Kelley was only excellent for a three-year stretch in the middle of the decade when offense was at its peak. Otherwise, he was just pretty good. Whereas guys like Delahanty and Hamilton were excellent for essentially the entire decade. Honus Wagner didn't even become a regular until 1898. He's more of a 1900's guy.
