Historical Sim Questions
1.) I typically play with reserves instead of minors when doing historical sims. Does that screw up anything once you get to present day? In other words, will fictional rookies develop properly? The manual says the develop under the assumption they have league average stats, but wasn't sure what that meant.
2) What's the best important option for historical sims if I want the best "what ifs"? Remaining peak seasons so that imported vets play to their best remaining seasons (but aren't hitting like they're 26) and so that star rookies have a shot at solid long careers even if in real life they flamed out (e.g., Doc Gooden). Am I understanding that setting correctly? (I say shot because I'd pair that with the OOTP Development system or whatever it is). 3) How many rounds of players to import each year to ensure a decent amount of time before running out of players in random debut? Thanks. |

For my random debuts I use mainly 4 or 5 round drafts. If I expand the league I will raise it if I feel I need the players.

Not sure what you mean by question 2. Are you referring to "base potential rating on"----Remaining peak seasons?. That affects their draft value but has nothing to do with their seasonal ratings. Their seasonal rating are based on 1/3 or 5 year recalc etc..
Question 3 kind of depends on the number of teams in your league. Even with 30 teams, you should be able to play for about 100 years if you go with 5 rounds for your draft. |

Thanks. Yes, I'm referring to the "Base Potential Ratings" on setting. I use the OOTP development system--not recalc.
