Newbie's first league
Hi, I am new to ootp and baseball sims in general, I want to make a fictional league and basically play through it's history, starting in 1905, I played around with it and if I start with only 1 minor league I feel the draft pool of 54 players is too small, gives little room for reserves. So I have a few questions.
How many players per league should I draft? Are there any league settings that I should change to accomodate the smaller amount of team (apart from amount of games per season of course) Should I go for more levels of minor leagues already or is it not important? I am planning on expanding on those as time goes by. Any draft tips? What to look for in my picks, I see a lot of starting pitchers with low stamina on here, is stamina mostly for relievers? Any general tips for playing with the 1905 financials and strategies? Thank you Last edited by carlbrunet2212; 09-09-2015 at 06:39 PM. Reason: Fixing up my post a little, clarifying my questions |

So, can you clarify something? You say you want a fictional league, but then your other comments about 1905 and so on make it feel like you want to play fictional.
Do you want totally fictional players, just starting in 1905 and moving forward with the evolution of financials, etc. matching real life?

I don't know that there is any need to change length of season or any other settings to accommodate the size unless you want to. I don't play with early years settings, so unfortunately I can't add much on the topic of 1905 strategies. I would suggest you go to the historical forum and ask for suggestions there on that one topic. That could help as well with learning what types of players to draft. The one thing you want to make sure is checked is the option (can't remember it exactly) that will have the game's financials continue to evolve over the years. Good luck!
