How to lower the chances of free agency and trading

Still new to the game. I am wondering what settings I could change to lower the chances of players leaving via free agency or being traded. Basically, I would like to see most players spend their entire careers on one team. There are a lot of settings and I don't quite understand the effects all of them have on the game yet.

It sounds like you still want free agency and trading, but very little of each. So, instead of turning them off, try setting free agency years to some very high number and choose very low trading frequency.

Keep in mind that the game also offers you the option to use the reserve clause. One thing you may see happen when you increase the free agent years is a lot of players becoming 1 year rentals once they reach free agency. You will get guys that play the first part of their career with one team and then finish up playing for a handful of different teams up until they hang up their spikes.
