Curious... why ZiPs projections?

Just curious why choose the ZiPs projections? I personally have never been a fan of them or any projection system really. They seem to be wrong most of the time and when they are right it seems mostly by luck. In that light will there still be an option to base ratings on past few seasons of stats etc?

Well, we like them, and think they're actually quite accurate, but reasonable opinions can vary on that I guess

The option to base the ai/performance on stats is still there though, so you can certainly do that if you want.

Would you prefer the roster team to travel into the future and find out how everyone will perform in 2017 before making the rosters instead or?

Yes, but only if the future is kind to the Tigers. If the news is bad, I would like them to cheat and make the Tigers great anyway

Yeah, in-game we'll still have essentially the same way that ratings are done, but we need to "seed" the ratings with something. And Zips is a great way to get started on everyone's current ratings.

Makes sense, I may have been oblivious prior versions but I had always thought it was based on stats and not any projections. If it was in the past then disregard lol

It's been based on ZIPS for a couple years now and was based on PECOTA for a while before that.

Even earlier, it was based on the by hand ratings of the roster team (which still factor into things in places). It's never been based on just stats though.
