Sometimes it's the "little" stuff . . .

As I said last year, while I appreciate the big enhancements, sometimes it's the little stuff that gets me excited as a fictional-style player. Here's why I just plunked down my cash again this year:
  • Improved player morale / team chemistry system
  • Improved player creation & development system
  • Improved game recaps
  • Enhanced play-by-play text and league news
All good for the immersion of a fictional-style player. And, fool that I am, I always fall for this line:
  • ...and more to be announced prior to release!

Actually, after reading through the main thread, I am going to add this one to my list of heartbeat accelerators, as a fictional-style player:
  • Promotion and relegation between leagues
I'm going to need to break out of my mold of recreating historical MLB with fictional players, though. I love that setup but I feel the need lately to get out of my rut.

I know what you mean. I preordered as soon as I saw the tournaments and Negro Leagues(and Federal League! This is the first time in many years I've been this excited to play historical leagues...), but every years it's always those small things that really sustain you once you start playing. Those little touches of realism and immersion really add up.

Yes, if they keep improving the history in this game (minor leagues, Negro Leagues, etc.) I may be tempted to play historical MLB, historical players. That would be a first for me!

Completely agree with your sentiments, Bru... I might even call it a (wait for it!) bruhaha.

Pitiful jokes aside, I can't help but think we are in the golden age of baseball sims, what with MLB The Show on Playstation console and OOTP on desktop. Markus and crew continue to impress year after year. Despite a few niggly issues based on design decisions, etc., it is hard to beat OOTP for depth and every year more so, breadth.

I preordered today, going back to non-Steam as I think it lends itself to mods , etc.
Good luck with your new historical leaning Bru. We all know you'll be back in the fictional "kiddies" pool soon enough!

Yes, I suspect you are right. That Promotions/Relegations thing is a biggie for that pool, I am sure, and I voted for this in the Which announced feature are you most looking forward to? thread.
