Khan's 1st quickstart

Hey guys, I thought I'd share a quickstart with you.

What's in it you say? Well here's the details:

Leagues included:

1)Major League Baseball starting in 2000 imported from Lahmans 5.3 database.
Note this league is setup to import new rookies to there real teams from Lahman.

Minors for this league include: International and Pacific Coast (AAA)
Eastern,Texas and Southern (AA)

South Atlantic,Midwest,Carolina, California
& Florida State (A)
Northwest & New York-Penn (Short Season)

Note the playoff setups for the minors were as close as I could get and I couldn't get the IL & PCL in the same league so they could
have a AAA world series

2) Canadian Baseball League : 16 team fictional league with no minors

Teams in this league are based of logos for Canadian cities some of
which were real. This league is set to have an Inaugural draft.

3) United States Baseball League : a new rival US 28 team league with many
teams in the same city as MLB teams.

This league is set for an inaugural draft and the players are fictional.

Minors included for this league are a AAA and AA league.
The Major level and AAA teams are based off logos from logos and leagues
from the community (I hope no one minds ) specifically the ABC
(see sig) and many from such logo greats as Illeracula, Cooleyvol and
probably others, hey I can't remember wher I got them all

The AA teams for the USBL are generic teams and logos.

Also included are logos for all the MLB levels and leagues from logo designers such as Truthserum and Justafan.
No player photos included as the download became significantly bigger.

I didn't fiddle with financials or equivalences too much from what the game gave me. Free agents are free to move throughout the leagues though trades are prohibited in the current setup.

Of course if you download it you're free to fiddle with it all you like.

There are two options to choose from, one uses the default stadium pics and the other will be setup to use Eriqjaffe's MVP 2005 set which can be found on Jazzracks site.

1) Default stadium pics, http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...8FFB801E968356
2) Eriq's stadiums, http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.ph...E87756592C7C8B
Link to stadium download , http://jazzrack.us/corporate/?page_id=96
If you don't get the stadiums for this version, you'll just see black if you playout your games.

If anyone likes it and can host it permanently please feel free to do so as that link is only good for 100 downloads or a week.

You're most welcome!

Another note if it's not obvious, the MLB rookies of course can only be imported until the 2005 season from lahman, when of course you'll have to switch to fictional rooks.

I'd like to here feedback from anyone who tries it out!

For those who aren't sure if they want to try this out, here's some more basic info.

# of leagues 17
# of teams 330
# of players 11818 (real and fictional)

That's quite a bit, but from the looks of things on this board this universe will end up small potatoes

On the downside, I didn't do all the team colors right so the team pages don't really match the logo colors.

I did do MLB as best I could though.

What graphics are you using for the in game stadium background? Everytime I get in a game it's nothing but black space.

People might run into a problem with the auto-import rookies if you're starting in 2000. Just a couple years later; you'll start running out of players.

Well they'll be able to import until 2005 and remember the game fills up the minors with fictional players so they are plenty of players, plus free agents can move between the major leagues.

I just went with a recent year, I'm more than willing to do more quickstarts for different years if people would like them.

Drat, I knew I'd forget something!! Unfortunately the ballpark pics don't get saved in the quickstart.

The stadium pics are Ankits MVP 2004 set or those are the ones I used anyway but you can find those or other stadium pics here, http://jazzrack.us/corporate/?page_id=96.

Place the pics in the your data/ballparks directory.

Then goto each team's home page under "options and ballparks", click "Edit Ballpark" and then goto the "Pictures and coordinates" tab.

You should see spots called Daytime and Nightime picture, just put the correct name of the jpg there for each stadium.

Only the Daytime MLB stadiums should be black right now,as I forgot to change the night pic from the default.

I don't have time right now, but sometime tomorrow i'll put up a new file correcting the stadiums and including pics.

Just a final note for today as I should be sleeping now.

The file currently posted has a problem with the MLB daytime stadiums as I changed them (and forgot about it) using Ankits MVP 2004 stadiums which of course don't get put in the quickstart.

If you like you can of course fix it yourself if you know what you're doing

However, I think I'll end up doing two other versions, one which just uses the default stadiums and one setup for Ankits stadiums where you'll have to dowload the stadiums separately.

Hopefully, i'll get these up tomorrow sometime if not in the next couple days.

Cheers!

For those still interested in this quickstart, there will be a new version up shortly with the stadiums set back to the default picture.

I'll also be setting up one for use with Eriqjaffe's MVP 05 set which has day & night versions and RFK which ankits did not. Hopefully i'll have that up within the hour

Links are up.

There are two versions, one usuing default stadium pics and the other is setup for Eriqjaffes MVP 2005 stadiums.

If you get the 2nd version, you must get the stadium pics or you'll see a black screen if you sim out your games

Hope everyone likes it, play ball!!

Khan,

This is great. Thanks a lot! It's the first quickstart I've downloaded and am pleased to report that (so far at least) it works great for Mac.
