Dog Days Baseball
Dog Days Baseball has been around since 2003, and we are approaching 60 seasons of baseball sims! We are a fictional league in a fictional country.
Opening Day is approaching -- our 63rd Opening Day. We'll play this season in OOTP16, but will move to OOTP17 for the following season. The league has 24 major league teams plus 4 minor league levels, all in a fictional country. We keep it moving! * 4 sims a week during the season, each sim covering a week of the season * sims every day in the off season * a season takes about 7 weeks of real life time * off season takes about 12 days A couple little twists: * each city has a built in advantage * annual organizational goals Commish does not run a team, instead handling these aspects of the league => Scouts on, coaches off => Originally a “stats only” league, with no current player ratings; now we use only vague (1-5) ratings, so you must rely mostly on stats to evaluate players => Player potential ratings are a somewhat more informative 1-10, to make drafting practical We are fine with 1st time online players… It is competitive, but not cutthroat, and lots of us are glad to give help if you are just starting out. Teams available from most difficult to least difficult: * Hinsdale Hares 74-88 last season, $7 million budget room, #17 minor league system, #10 draft pick * Ritchford Redwings 69-93 last season, $41 million budget room, #5 minor league system, #5 draft pick * Red Willow Roadrunners 82-80 last season, $19 million budget room, #22 minor league system * Hood River Herons 81-81 last season, $45 million budget room, #14 minor league system Dog Days Baseball Forum Recent zipped league file, for download -- you can go in as "guest visitor" without a password To join, contact Beorn at dbemont@rochester.rr.com

Red Willow and Hood River have been taken. Ritchford and Hinsdale remain available.

I have been in this league for quite awhile now, 26+ seasons, and I'd want any potential new GMs to know that Beorn is one of the best commissioners around. He almost never misses a sim unless there is an issue with the game. He took a month long cross country vacation and barely missed a beat (internet not always great in the middle of nowhere).. As he says this isn't a cut throat league, it is fairly laid back though always moving forward. For anyone new there are some very supportive GMs.
I couldn't recommend Beorn and the DDB any higher. Last edited by byzeil; 03-12-2016 at 09:07 AM. |

Just Hinsdale remains, looking for adoption.
A challenge for an experienced GM, but not an insurmountable situation.

Hinsdale has now been taken, but Seneca Point has opened up. 84-78 last season, has a couple of the top pitching prospects in the league.
