Having a hitter come in as a reliever

I've got Shohei Ohtani in my latest sim and he's not doing well as a starter. I'm thinking of trying to make him into a relief pitcher, but I'm having trouble making that happen. Does anyone have any experience making a hitter (RF) switch to pitching? He's listed in my bullpen, but I can't drag him over to start warming up or put him into the game

Do you have Two Way Player checked on the his player strategy screen?
You could switch his position from RF to P on the replacement screen and put in a different RF'er (in the pitchers lineup slot). This is easy in the National League without a DH because the pitcher is included in the lineup but I am not sure (without trying it) if it'll work in a DH league like the American League.

Even with warm ups off, I can’t get him on the mound. I have figured out that I can turn off DH or I can have him start and become a hitter later in the game, but can’t figure out how to get him into the game as a reliever.

In the Pitching Staff screen, there is a drop down in the lower left corner labeled “Allow SP In Relief”. Have you tried that?
