Adopt A Prospect

Hey guys, I don't normally post or lurk around here much, but in the past, I've done a handful of these threads, and went ahead and linked you to them if you feel like reading them again.

But I'm bringing it back this year! With Covid-19, and a limited ability to work this month, and the new game out, I thought I would bring this back

I will be looking for up to 9 volunteers, and I want at least 2 pitchers and a catcher. If you volunteer, participation is expected from you. You are helping me to create a prospect for the 2020 MLB draft, and you will make decisions for your prospects career.

If you volunteer to participate, you have to stay with the communication! If you don't respond within 24 hours, your prospect will be abandoned and his career simmed out (let me know in advance if you have some reason you can't respond though)

For what it's worth, the prospects we are creating all have all-star potential basically. Some could turn into HoF studs, some could never make it or completely bust. But I've attempted to do some things (like limit injury possibilities) to raise the probability of success for the players to keep people engaged and make this a little more fun, even if that sacrifices some realism.

Here are the links of the past threads that I've done
2016 - https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=273173
2015 - https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=255154
2014 - https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=243463
2012 - https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...d.php?t=226259

So without further ado, here is the brief summary of the world that we are creating

100% scouting accuracy
Scouting Scale is 20-80 (no stars)
Injury Frequency is low
Batting Aging Speed - .875
Batting Dev Speed - 1.000
Pitching Aging Speed - .875
Pitcher Dev Speed - 1.000
Talent Change Randomness - 50

No Automatic Evolution, but I will add the DH for the 2022 season in both leagues (not a fan of it, but I want it uniform in both leagues)

I do allow trading of injured players
Inflation is set at 0-1%
No international draft of international free agents, making the draft the only import of new players

If you select a high school player, he will have the ability to have a higher ceiling, but will have a lower floor. He is more likely to reach a better tier long term, but he is also more likely to never make it to the big leagues

If you select a college player, he will have a higher floor, but a lower ceiling.

If you think you can continue participation over the next few weeks with me, then here is the information that I need you to copy and paste and reply with in this thread

Name:
Nickname: Not necessary, but if you want one
High School or College, and birthday (don't need year, just month and date)
Note - college players will have slightly higher current ratings (10%), but have less potential (-2%)
Hometown (needs to be a real place):
Uniform Number:
Personality Attribute, pick 1-200 in each of the following, totals equal up to 1100 combined, only one item to can exceed 150
Leadership:
Desire for Winner:
Loyalty:
Greed:
Work Ethic:
Intelligence:
Adaptability:
Controversy:
Handle Success:
Handle Failure:
Handle Critics:

Height:
Weight:
Bats :R/L/S
Throws: R/L
Position/Role (if you pick a position player, select a primary, and then a secondary position and a third position choice):

Do you prefer to be a position player or pitcher?
If you choose a position player, then select from the following:

Position (Catcher, Corner Infielder/Corner Outfielder, Middle Infielder/Center Fielder)
Ratings are Current/Potential
C - High School (350/575) College (390/560)
CornerIF/CornerOF - High School (400/650) College (500/625)
MiddleIF/CF - High School (380/625) College (470/610)
Note - no individual rating can be over 200

C - 550 Speed and Defensive Ratings
Corner infielder/outfielder - 650 Speed and Defensive Ratings
Middle infielder/outfielder - 750 Speed and Defensive Ratings

If you select a pitcher:
You get 4 pitches, pick those 4 pitches, one of them MUST be a fastball/sinker/cutter no knuckle to keep it simple:

Say those three pitches, your choices are:
fastball
sinker
cutter
curveball
slider
changeup
splitter
forkball
circle change
screwball
knucklecurve

Then select a current/potential rating for each pitch that you select, and for movement and control as well:

If you select a High School Pitcher - Current Ratings of 600, potential ratings total 1050
If you select a College Pitcher - Current ratings of 650, potential ratings of 1000

Velocity is chosen as the following

101+ - 200
99-101 - 190
98-100 - 180
97-99 - 170
96-98 - 160
95-97 - 150
94-96 - 140
93-95 - 130
92-94 - 120
91-93 - 110
90-92 - 100
89-91 - 90
88-90 - 80
87-89 - 70
86-88 - 60
85-87 - 50
84-86 - 40
83-85 - 30
80-83 - 20
75-80 - 10

So an example would be:

High School Pitcher

Velocity - 95-97 - 150
Fastball: 125/185
Curveball: 125/185
Changeup: 50/125
Slider: 50/115
Movement: 50/160
Control: 50/130

I will give you an update twice per year, and posters will get to decide where they go as free agents, and when they retire, and we'll have some other fun if we can.

For those that want to retire, you have to tell me when you want to retire, but if a player doesn't get any offers for 12 months, he will be forced to retire.

Here is the format I want you to post in your reply to this thread

Name: Jeffrey Lage

Please confirm your player looks correct. And you did give him strong platoon splits, I wanted to confirm that you wanted him to be good against lefties initially, right?

I just edited him. I wanted to confirm, your order of positional preference is
CF, 2B, SS, is that right?

Thank you, I just realized I forgot to include two things for starters

You can allocate 250 points to hold runners and to stamina. 125 each, or favor one, up to you. How do you want to allocate those?

Additionally, what arm slot? 3/4? Over the top etc.

Until then, here is the profile page for you to determine if he looks right.

I still need at least one more pitcher, one catcher, and I will take up to 4 other prospects, though that is a lot.

Looks good, thanks! The college is different but not sure that's something you can edit yet. Even then no big deal if it's off.

And let's do 180 for stamina and 70 to hold runners. And 3/4 armslot

Unfortunately, I didn't get more volunteers, so I am making two additional players, but I won't give periodic updates on them, but rather just have them in the sim and watch their careers unfold.

So I have added left handed high school pitcher Danny Redford and college catching prospect Steven Givens

Dave Dewerson - The Kansas City Royals are offering you $11,500,000 to sign with them as the 4th overall pick. The slot for the 4th overall pick is $5,970,000. Do you accept their offer or do you want to go to college?
