100th Anniversary of the Negro Leagues

I’ve started seeing some articles and videos etc noting this, looks like MLB are celebrating it this season. Thought I’d share a couple things I’ve found so far, feel free to add

A ‘Caught Listening’ podcast, interviewing the President of the Negro Leagues Museum in Kansas City https://youtu.be/2KQv5pXFxe4

Some MLB videos with Howie Kendrick about Buck Leonard and other things https://www.mlb.com/video/howard-discusses-buck-leonard (can use tags under that video to find more)

I'm sure we will be doing something here in Cleveland. We had a Negro League team called the Buckeyes, maybe one or two others, I don't remember exactly.

I've been told my late grandfather became friends with Satchel Paige when he played here as a member of our major league team.

Obviously outside the suffering, the 100th anniversary may not happen is sad. Teams & players can comeback next season if this lasts for months but an anniversary just goes by.

Craig Kriendler did the painting at the NLBM and those that will be on display at the Bobblehead HOF. I have yet to hear when they will be at the Bobboblehead HOF though. Neither he do Mr Kendricks responded last time i asked about a week ago on twitter. follow @nlbm Mr Bob Kendrick, he's great and @GraigKreindler.

I've been re-reading James Riley's "Biographical Encyclopedia of the Negro Baseball Leagues." It's one of those books you can open at any page and instantly become completely absorbed. Just a wonderful book, with lots of great photos.

Sadly, all of my family who attended those games back in the day are now gone.

They do exist, but it's difficult to find Negro League cards from the time that they played.

I decided to make some in a 1920s card design that fits the 1900-1950 era that they played.
