How do I do this?

I've tried a few times without success but this is what I want to do.

I want to start a historical league in 1985 and:

- have the player ratings based on player's actual and potential ratings consistent with how they ended 1984

- have the OOTP development engine take over from there with full scouting system working from there on out.

- have each year's rookies come in and develop based on their actual and potential ratings based on their entire careers, bottom to peak but avoiding automatic performance drops based on history like if they were great until one year they just started sucking, I don't want it to be automatic that they start to suck that year.

What I'm trying to say there is I want them to be able to get as good as they got in the big leagues but not necessarily drop off as they did, especially if there were precipitous drops, I want this to be subject to the OOTP development engine and coaches etc.

Can anyone help me with how to fine tune creating my game to make this happen?

Thanks in advance.

To put a finer point on it, I'm playing with the Tigers and Milt Wilcox, who was a decent pitcher in 1983 and 1984, started to suck in 1985 in reality and his ratings at the start of spring training in 1985 already reflect this.

How do I make it so that he might have the same form in 1985 that he did in 1984 and just age normally instead of having the automatic drop off that he did in real life.

Same thing with Alan Trammell, he had a great year in 1984, then very mediocre in 1985, slightly better in 1986, then was 2nd in MVP voting in 1987.

I don't want to have to limit his playing time in 1985 based on history, but want to hang onto him because I know he's going to go off in 1987.

I want him to come in with 1984 ratings and progress as if history after 1984 never happened. He might be MVP in 1985 and continue in that form for the rest of his career or he might drop off completely in a year or two. That's fine, I just don't want his rise and fall to be automatic based on history.

Can I do that?

One of those questions can be answered simply: Turn off recalc and let the OOTP simulation and development system handle it for you.

What if you were to select "base player potentials on peak season" and then turn recalc off?

I'll try that one. That should help with rookies coming in.

But how do I get people to start the 1985 with the ratings they had at the end of 1984? Or is this even possible?
