resolution problems, am I the only one?

Apparently this game MUST be used in a screen resolution of 1024x768 (or whatever)...I can't even install it. My monitor is not capable of that screen resolution, and I even tried another monitor from another computer in the house.

Is there any chance of this being fixed in a patch, or is there any way around it? I've been waiting for this game for years, same as the rest of you guys...I've NEVER had any problem installing or playing any games on my system, so I find it ironic that the first game that my monitor can't handle is a text based game.

Anyway, help me out here...is there anything I can do short of spending big bucks on a new high tech monitor?

You can find brand new 17" monitors for less than $100 on a weekly basis from either CompUSA or Bestbuy. If your monitor can't handle 1024x768 then it's time to upgrade. Otherwise, you will pretty much be out of luck as far as TBCB is concerned.

Man, and I though my monitor sucked!

Is kinda retarded you can't even install the game. Sure, warn people (like my old system I have it by default at 800x600), but don't kill it entirely.

Sorry, but you need 1024x768 or higher. That will not be changed in a patch. The reason why we do this is the following: We decided that our games have to run in "Windowed mode", i.e. in a window, not full screen. This way we can use the standard file open/save dialogs and the browser, and the gamer can switch back and force to other applications, which has been a wish of a lot of the people on the OOTP forums and so on. A lot of people want to work while simulating 1000 bouts, or they want to read or write data in an Excel sheet which they need to run their individual universe and so on. This is much easier in windowed mode as in full screen.

What courier mentioned is correct. If your monitor cannot handle that resolution, it pretty surely cannot handle a lot of other things like for example an ergonomic display (don't know the english word for Bildwiederholfrequenz, sorry) So it's about time to spend $100 for another monitor. That's not high-tech, that's standard since a few years :-)

Well, it's in the System Requirements (which nobody reads )
And we have to kill the installation, because it's really not playable in low resolution. You have to switch it anyway.

I just received a replacement license for one I lost and loaded the game on a smaller screen notebook. I had to set the display at 1024 x 768 to get the game to fill the screen, otherwise it's either cut off at the bottom or the display screen is cut off at left and right.
