What to do with a suspended player?

So this is my first time having to deal with a suspended player on my 25 man roster and I'm not quite sure what I can do with him. I just started a game as the pirates and Kang has a 30 game suspension. Can I option him to the minors to serve his suspension or do I have to keep him on my 25 man roster?

He has to stay on your major league active roster I believe. He cannot be sent down nor can he be placed on the DL.

A quick way to get around it is to give him a type of "undisclosed injury" for a certain amount of days, if you really want to get him off the roster.

Is that how it really works in RL? I can't imagine that if a guy gets suspended for 30 days you'd be required to eat his roster spot and not replace him.

I said "I believe" and I stand corrected. IRW - they are placed on the "Suspended List" and they do not take up an active roster spot.

Not quite correct. It depends on why the player was suspended.

Players suspended as a result of insubordination, violating team rules, or due to an on-the-field incident, do count against the active roster. A player suspended for a PED violation does not count against the active roster. (Technically, a PED violation lands the player on the Restricted List, but in common parlance it is called a suspension.)
