When to Add Minor Leagues?

Hi All,

I've been wanting to try and make my way up to present day, stating in 1871. I know that the minors we have today aren't how things used to be, but am looking for some guidance as to what some others that love historical leagues tend to use. Namely, at what point in the history did you add AAA, AA and A leagues? Did you eventually add all levels of minors? Did you go with just a reserve roster until you started setting up your minor leagues? Any insight you can provide as to what worked and what may have failed miserably (or turned out much better than you had anticipated) would be a big help. I've just started yet another attempt to work my way up to today, being in charge of no team, just as a commish, and seeing how players and teams do.

Thank you for any insight you can provide.

Todd

I am starting in 1890 and plan to add AAA minors as soon as teams have enough players to fill out an AAA team, but probably no sooner than 1915 or so (will go with reserve roster until then)... No plans to add AA & A, though.
