How do I solve this issue? I can't sim to another day to get rid of a player.

Found it. But it does not let me make anyone a FA

change the "Current Team" to free agent, then the "Contracted to" to free agent as well. Then under league rights you can choose to change that to Free or leave it to your team. By doing this it will zero out his contract. And click the save button.

On July 1st, you can change the rules from 50 to more but I wouldn't recommend it. Just keep an eye on that number.
