Adding money to trades
is iOOTP 13, how do I sweeten the pot by adding money to a trade? I see other teams offering that to me to offset the cost of a high salary.
Thx |

I'd like to know too. Saw that the AI put it in a trade, but not sure how to add/remove from the trade.

Adding money to trades
When the AI refuses a trade, but says you are close, sometimes you can succeed by adding one of the other team's unused contracted players instead of offering one more player of your own - if you can afford to carry the additional salary and a no-name player on your minor league roster.
Not the same as offering cash only, but has the same effect. During a 1960 replay I picked up teenage prospect Tim McCarver and reliever Ted Abernathy for two faded veterans who the Senators initially refused. The team accepted after I agreed to take one of their one-star MRs, a fellow named Hector Maestri, and pay his minimal ML contract salary. |

Can one of the Devs either confirm this (a) isn't possible ... and put us all out of our misery ... or (b) confirm if this might be a new feature in any updates ? Cheers |

While you are right that it is not the same, it is a reasonable workaround, I think. It is the functional equivalent of sending cash to another team, and seems closer to MLB trade parameters than the current iOOTP rules (which make it impossible to send cash). Nothing gamey about that, I think, while we wait for a tweak allowing cash offerings.
I sometimes go to the "Manage Team" screen, select another team, and go to their minors roster to see what I can learn. In the second season of a 2013 start, just discovered that the Chicago White Sox have Adam Dunn in the minors -- earning $15,000,000. Speaking of needed tweaks, have you noticed that if the opposing team offers you cash and then you replace all of the players mentioned, the other team does not seem to have the ability to withdraw the cash part of the offer and (I worry) that cash does not figure in their calculations after you change the players. To avoid gaming the trade system, just in case the new AI calculations forget about the cash, I clear the offer if I want to change the players named. |
