Fantasy Baseball Advice
So, I'm playing in Yahoo! Fantasy Baseball and in my public I was offered the following trade:
I trade: SP (O-Rank 27, Rank 150) Roy Halladay 15.0 IP, 1 W, 8K, 4.20 ERA, 1.00 WHIP RP (O-Rank 63, Rank 231) Francisco Rodriguez 5.1 IP, 0W, 4SV, 6.75 ERA, 2.06 WHIP for: SP (O-Rank 6, Rank 283) Johan Santana 17.1 IP, 0W, 12K, 5.71 ERA, 1.62 WHIP RP (O-Rank 389, Rank 13) Tim Worrell 7.1 IP, 1W, 6SV, 3K, 1.23 ERA, 0.82 WHIP I'm leaning towards no on this deal, but with Santana's previous year his potential is there to do a lot better, but, I dunno. Giving up K-Rod and Halladay seems a bit tough. What do you guys think?

Definitely not, when healthy Halladay has the potential to win the Cy Young and K-Rod is one of the best closers in the game.

Fat Joe, lean back toward yes. Santana is a superior pitcher in just about every way and KRod is an injury risk. The best philosophy in fantasy baseball with closers is quantity over quality since saves are so easy to come by, and they don't pitch nearly as many innings so having a superior ERA isn't as important as with a starter.

I say do the trade. Halladay is always getting hurt and Santana is very reliable and is in my opinion better than Roy. Santana will turn it around soon and you will look very good for making this trade.
Worrell is very hot right now, so I get him and flip him to someone else in exchange for a struggling closer who will do better and a position you need. People are always looking for closers, and Worrell is one of the best at this moment, but probably won't last, especially once Benitez comes back and he has the pressure on him to keep the job. Get something for Worrell, but do this trade because Worrell's value is higher than K-Rod's right now, K-Rod is a health risk and shows signs that he may have already burned out or his heading down that path, and Roy is also a health risk. Santana will give you 15+ wins, a 3.00 or lower ERA, and around 230 or more strikeouts and will not get hurt. He has been a slow starter the past two seasons, April 04 - 5.40 ERA in 5 Games May 04-5.79 ERA in 6 Games April 05-3.55 ERA He finished under 3 both times and had 20 wins in 04, with just 2 in April and May. He is already showing signs of heating up. Halladay will probably give you close to 15 wins as well, if he can stay healthy, but his ERA will be higher and he is going to have less strikeouts, because his arm has been so beat up over the years. Take Santana and pray for a Halladay injury worse than the current one.

Also Benitez was taken off of the DL, so Worrell will be back to setup soon (baring another Benitez injury)

Yeah, so his(Worrell) value lessens greatly, I can't see doing that deal. It's basically K-Rod and Halladay for Santana now unless your league counts holds.

Worrell is expected to keep the job for at least 2 weeks, possibly more, because Benitez is not going to be 100% when he comes back and is willing to setup for Worrell for at least a little while. Do this and trade Worrell or try and get another pitcher instead of Worrell.

I agree, Worrell is a liability, but I love Santana over Halladay and would try and get someone else in the deal instead of Worrell.

If you can get another guy to get saves then do it. Even if it's Roberto Hernandez. |

I wouldn't do it.
Santana is a stud, granted, but you are taking a hit losing KRod for a soon to be middle reliever. I have both Halladay and Santana on my team and I feel that Santana will turn it around. I also feel that Halladay is a top shelf SP whan healthy and is better than most even at 85%. You would not be too badly hurt with the SPs involved. I just would question a sure closer traded for a middle reliever playing closer to cover an injury. Good Luck Either Way! Kev

That deal no but I'd look to find a decent repalcement for Worrell, possibly a hole on your team if they have the manpower. Halladay seems to be getting close to injury prone status.
