overdoing steals in dead ball era
I played a few games in 1911 (sadly, I deleted it by accident, so I can't give you the mog) and steals were, in my best Crazy Eddie voice, IIIINNNNSAAAANNNEE!
One game had 30 steals between the two teams, with one caught stealing. Regular catchers were playing, so I wonder if they took their running steroids! --adam |

Hi,
I'm going to move this thread over to the Historicals forum as they'll be able to talk you through the various modifiers and things that can change this sort of behaviour.

The default settings seem to result in way too many steal attempts, and possibly too low a success rate, though that's hard to check since CS records aren't available for the deadball era. They also result in about half as many triples as there should be. However, I have yet to see a game coming anywhere close to having 30 attempted steals, let alone 30 successful attempts. I don't know what the settings should be set to, but you can fiddle with them in the league setup strategy tab, setting the stolen base attempts and success modifiers to get more accurate results.

SB Attempts and SB% are exactly what they should be for the Deadball Era. The SB% is assumed to be 55% for 1901-1919 when there was almost no CS data. The games automatic league totals modiiers keeps theings on track each season. Triples are also perfect in OOTP.
