Boy, what a pitching duel!
How many pitchers did both teams use? I know there is a two-way option for some players however, is there a way to control two-way positional players allowing them to pitch only in blow-outs and when there are no more available pitchers? |

guess that's a bonus of my old timey bunch that has a bullpen full of starters, so they have killer stamina to eat up innings when needed; and while I do have Dihigo on the roster, I don't have him tagged as a 2-way player, so its all up to my regular pitching staff |

Another regular season came to a close, and another champagne soaked celebration as Waffletown secured a spot in the post season with their record of 103-59, which was good enough to claim the AC East division title.
"We stayed pretty consistent the whole season." said closer Chief Bender (who currently has a 33 game saves streak still going). "But it's not going to mean a thing if we don't stay focused and keep winning in the playoffs." Waffletown will host the Austin Wierdos in the LDS. The two teams met seven times during the regular season, with Waffletown taking the series 4 games to 3. |

Waffletown kept their focus in the LDS and brought their brooms to Austin to sweep the series 3 games to none.
George Sisler took home the series MVP award with his 5 for 12 performance at the plate (.417 avg) with one home run, one RBI, 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored. Waffletown awaits the winner of the Chicago-Little Canada series to see if they will begin the LCS on the road in Chicago or if they will host Little Canada. edit: the Syrups will travel to Chicago to start the LCS. Chief Bender sets a new saves streak record for Waffletown at 36 games.... unfortunately the streak came to an end during the LCS and put the Syrups in an 0-3 hole. I believe a reverse sweep is now in order

the baseball gods have a cruel sense of humor..... after dropping the first three games of the LCS, Waffletown turned things around and pulled even in the series by taking games 4, 5 and 6 to send it to a decisive game 7; only to have a single poor inning where they gave up 4 runs and lost the game 4-2....
perhaps there will never be a Perfect tier championship for poor Waffletown |

Finally!
Chief Bender brings home his first Reliever of the Year award (should be his third or fourth in my biased opinion) other post season hardware: -Ed Walsh wins his first Great Glove award -Joe DiMaggio and Sherry Magee both win their first Platinum Stick award |

One lousy hit away from a perfect game.... still an impressive game to pitch a complete 9 innings on only 79 pitches

How are Joe and Snuffy doing? Over here Joe's hitting a solid .302 with 7 Hr and 51 RBI in a more defensive league. Snuffy's hitting .269 but has a solid 1.2 WAR and overall good stats in a platoon role at 2b. Good Times!

Snuffy has been hot/cold... batted a solid .323 in the 2066 season, then slumped to .212 the next year... his defense at 2B/3B/SS has improved nicely and is currently 121/113/109 |

The familiar sound of champagne corks a-poppin' capped off another successful regular season for Waffletown, as the club celebrated another division title with a record of 99-63 (though the frustrating part was they went 1-7 down the stretch and just missed another 100+ win season).
For the Syrups, 2068 might end up being known as the Year of the Pitcher, as the staff set club records for ERA (3.00), runs allowed (534), earn runs allowed (488), home runs allowed (68), and walks (382). Waffletown will travel to face off against the NC Central champs the Swedish Fish in the LDS. The two teams met six times during the regular season with the Fish taking the series 4 games to 2. |

It was a hard fought series that went the distance, but in the end, Waffletown failed to take care of business and fell to the Swedish Fish 3 games to 2.
"Wait 'till next year is getting to be a tired old cliche." said outfielder Sherry Magee while management has a decent war chest available, they are holding steady with the current lineup unless a spectacular deal presents itself. |

I really like how you constructed the Syrups over the course of the past year. I've still got my fingers crossed you'll bring home a championship trophy to Waffletown in the next few weeks. I've instructed the Terriers to keep popcorn in paw

In a late season move, the GM of Waffletown pulled the trigger on a deal to bring aboard a new addition to the squad. Joining the club for the stretch run of the 2069 season:
C - Bill Dickey (97) Dickey will platoon with long-time Syrup Ernie Lombardi and step into the starting role against right handed pitchers, while Lombardi will remain the starter against lefties. Rick Ferrell will be sent to the reserves to make room. Management would like to express their thanks to Ferrell for his long time service to the club. Joining Waffletown during their initial formation, Ferrell has been with the club since its inception in 2020. During his 49 years of service with the club, he has played both a starting and backup role and has performed admirably at all levels. |

Nicely done, Waffles.
My Mudville Muffins have yet to win a Daily Tournament however, they have won 98 "other" Tournaments, so far. |

yeah, it's definitely a crapshoot on those daily tourneys.... some of the recent additions in the past few weeks have helped boost my club and it's nice to seem them doing well against some stiff competition. starting to throw them into some daily open tourneys as well.... best they've managed there is a semi-final in a daily historical open, so pretty good considering the quality of teams in there. |

While it was just a wild card spot, a raucous crowd celebrated at the Spile nonetheless at another Waffletown post season appearance. The Syrups finished the 2069 regular season with a decent 89-73 record, but a distant 40 games back of the division leader.
"Anything can happen in a short series." said right fielder Billy Hamilton. "129 regular season wins doesn't mean they get any extra help in the playoffs... but we gotta get to that point first." Waffletown will host the Ktown Rustics in the wild card game. The two teams met 6 times during the regular season, with Waffletown taking the series 4 games to 2. |
