Anyway. Yes, he probably should have been called out. He likely wouldn't have been called out if he'd ran in the running lane. Having right handed batters start in fair ground, run in foul ground and step on the base in fair ground is dumb and the base should extend into foul ground. |

https://forums.ootpdevelopments.com/...&postcount=454 He interfered with the fielder making the catch and he was not exiting the running lane. That's interference. To the letter of the poorly constructed rule. |

To me, it doesn't matter that he wasn't in the lane prior to the him and the ball arriving. What matters is, at the point where he's allowed to exit the lane to reach the bag, that's when the contact/conflict occurred. IOW, where he's running during the time the pitcher is going after the ball, grabbing it, turning and throwing it is of no consequence. It's where Turner was when the he, the ball, and the glove met. At that point, he was where he was allowed to be... Whether that's specifically addressed in the rule, I dunno. But common sense ought to have taken over. Not sure if this was on the Fox postgame or FS1 extended postgame (same crew did both), but they showed a clip of nearly the same play from last year's World Series, Cody Bellinger in the Turner role. Nearly identical. No interference call... I guess what this comes down to is when you have a stupid rule that is poorly drafted, open to interpretation and the umpire's judgement, and is not replay-reviewable, you're kind of asking for inconsistency at best (Bellinger non-call vs Turner call), big-time controversy at worst (which was somewhat mitigated in this case by Rendon's subsequent dinger). |

Curious how game 7 does on TV tonight. So far this series has done terribly on TV ratings.

I agree. His bum has no business being there. I could have worded it more clearly.

Thru three innings, Grienke has brought his A+ game to Game Seven: throwing strikes, getting outs. Scherzer? Not so much. Bobbing and weaving, and struggling with command. With his pitch count, he'll be lucky to see the 6th inning. We'll see...

I wish the damn Astros could score a guy in scoring position with one out without hitting one into the Crawford boxes…

Is there a place that gives you a comparison of the ball/strike calls of the umpire and what the computer says?

(sits there, motionless, as Howie Kendrick clonks the dagger off the foul pole)

I have been, and always will be, a fan of leaving pitchers in the game if they are dominating. Why did the Astros take Grienke out of the game with only 80 pitches thrown (and two hits allowed)? Did I miss word of an injury?
The guy on the mound is mowing them down. The guy in the bullpen, who knows how he is tonight? Go with the hot hand (until it falls off).

Well, I'm not a know-it-all by any means. Sure, Grienke could have thrown that gopher ball, too. My preference, though, is to take a chance on extending a guy who is throwing well versus bringing another guy in who may or may not be ready and able. Especially when the guy on the mound is dominating and has thrown only 80 pitches.
