Continue Game Option Not Available

I can't get the Continue Game Option from the main screen to work. The game happily loads the game and allows me to play, save, backup, etc. But each time I reopen, the game does not remember my last save point.

Any ideas on how to correct this issue?

Try loading a different game then advance a day so you know it saves. Exit. Then reload to see if continue game is working on that different file. If it doesn't then the problem is not the file but the save on exit feature. In that case I'd reinstall the latest version.
If it does work then load the original game and repeat the above. If continue game does't work then there may be a file issue. Backup the game file please then go to the original file and delete all the dat files in the auto-save folder. Please don't do this unless you have a backup. Reload the game advance a day then save and exit. Hopefully continue game works when you reload.

Rchw. Thanks for the reply. Sorry for the long response. Had other things going on and was away for a day.

I was able to load another league, play a day, save, exit and see the Continue Option work for that League (new in OOTP19).

Follow the same steps for my other league (converted from OOTP18). No success.

I'm currently reinstalling last update hoping that helps. I'm not betting on it. Suspect it is an issue with my league files as you indicated.

No luck with reinstalling latest patch

I haven't seen that before - there must be something going on in the folder that's preventing things from opening properly. Another option that might help would be to go to your saved games folder, create a new folder, and copy the .dat and other files from your league to the new folder. Then you should be able to hopefully load that game, and potentially continue on from there. Could be that somehow a permission got changed on the folder and for whatever reason that blocks the continue game functionality.

Thanks for the suggestion. When I went to copy the league, I noticed that the league folder extension was "*.lg.lg". I did not see it when I followed RchW's fix. I think the extra .lg got in there when I converted the league over from OOTP18 as I typed the league name.

I had to load the league first and save on exit to get the continue option to work.

Add this to your list of dumb user errors.
