Rehab Assignments

I know that players get "rust" if they don't play for a while, so if it is a long term injury you might want them to play a few games in the minors first. However, I have never put a player on a rehab assignment and they generally seem to do just fine in the majors. How important would you say rehab assignments really are? Should I actually use them? And I know in real life players usually go to Single A, but is it really the same in OOTP?

Thanks in advance.

I just had a pitcher come off a three month injury, and when I put him directly back in the rotation, he won two of three starts with a 2.50 ERA.

Unfortunately you can only send players to AAA for rehab assignments. I would like to be able to get them playing time at several different levels like a lot of teams do IRL.

Rehab assignments are particularly helpful if said injured player was a borderline Quad-A player; especially should they become eligible sometime in August (before September call-ups). Another reason you may want to use them is because the player you replaced him with has no more options, and you have to figure a way of getting the most out of him, or said player is in the middle of a hot streak and actually playing better than the injured player. I use them for pitchers most often because I am afraid of the guy sucking out loud in the middle of a playoff run. Those are just some personal observations.

Also, they used to be assigned to your lowest minor league, and you'd have to manually, or use the A.I. to put them in their proper place, but I think one of the later patches "fixed" that.

Alright, thanks guys. It seems you've all had pretty similar experiences to me.
