What if he declines?!
I just saw an article regarding Brad Ausmus being fired especially since Joe Madden is now available. If you fire a manager hoping to get someone else, doesn't that put you over a heck of a barrel if he picks somewhere other than you?! I mean, yeah...maybe the organization wasn't happy with Ausmus anyway. But, if you fire someone while hoping.......
Unless....there is something underneath that we don't know? |

Wouldn't be the first time a team jumped the gun. But I would also think a team wouldn't make that kind of move for that reason unless they had assurances. But like I said, sports execs make that mistake all the time.

Joe Maddon and the Angels would be a strange fit .. The Cubs are in a situation where it is time to spend the money on trying to keep some young players - Maddon's contract would take some of that. I look at Maddon at San Diego. Ausmus was on his second team and things were not working . I like Sandy Alomar Jr. for the Angels.

I would like to extend a heartfelt invitation to Brad Ausmus to replace our dead-brained dunce of a manager over here!

Within a month Mets fans would want to torch Ausmus. It isn't that he manages any different than anyone else, it is about his demeanor. He is condescending to everyone. Maybe his year with the Angels changed his attitude, I didn't watch him that closely, I was just pretty happy when Detroit finally pulled the trigger and went in a different direction. He wore thin on our media and fan base quickly, and it isn't like we are known for having a critical media here. Actually, the more I think about it, the Mets should hire him. Would love to see that train wreck!
